Bottle courtesy of rlgk. Pours tiny hazy copper with a small frothy offwhite head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace on the glass. Smell is intense, sweet and hoppy with caramel, grapefruit rinds, caramel, alcohol, oily pine, moist tobacco, sweet white bread, golden syrup and alcohol. Taste is very sweet and bitter with caramel, alcohol, grapefruit rinds, pine needles, resinous wood, golden syrup, sweet bread, resinous wood and toffee. Mouthfeel is round, boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with caramel, resinous wood, grapefruit rinds, pine needles, dried apricots and hints of golden syrup, grass and sweet bread. Way too boozy and unbalanced...

Bottled. First batch. Still a gift from Alex. Somehow this bottle got lost in the stash and when going throught my old stash I found it, appeared to be a jewel. Transformed from a DIPA into a very nice well balanced barley wine. Great sweet-bitter balance. Aroma has resin, raisin, light booze, caramel. Clear, copper-orange coloured beer with a thin, off-white head. The taste is moderate sweet, moderate bitter, there is raisin, orange, light booze, caramel. Hop fatty mouthfeel. A pearl, truly. Thanks again for your gift few years back Alex.

UPDATED: JUL 11, 2014 Bottle. Translucent brown, thin head. Nose is strong sweet malt, pine, grapefruit. Flavour is very caramel malty with berry and a grapefruit hop backbone, not harsh in any way, this is a really pleasant American barleywine.

UPDATED: DEC 6, 2016 Tasted some time ago. Teku glass. Reddish brown/mahogny with small very light brown, short-lasting head. Low lacing. Honey liquor aromas. High hoppy aromas - herbal, dried fruits, grapes. Really complex aromas of canned, sticky tropical fruits, ripe grapefruit, brown sugar. All good Taste is medium-heavy sweet. High caramel, honey taste, bubblegum, brown sugar. Hops taste is really complex and wide - sticky mango, ripe grapes, sticky pine resin. Medium bitterness. Aftertaste is earthy, mineral, little bit tabbaco. Mediuml body. Sticky texture. Soft carbonation. Medium alcohol warmth. Nice smooth bitter finish. Decent work. Lots of good sweet stuff packed here. Very drinkable and fruity. There is some inbalance between sweet malty character and bitterness. This beer remind me de Molen Open Bloot and Pais and Vree.

Recenzja z 16.01.2014. Kolor brunatno-czerwony, lekkie jednolite zmetnienie. Piana srednia, szybko opada, zostawia gruba obraczke i troche oblepia szklo. W zapachu slodkie i karmelowe, lekko winne, troche amerykanskiego chmielu. W smaku pelne, ale srednio slodkie, troche karmelowe, lekka nieprzyjemna kwasnosc. Goryczka srednia w strone wysokiej, bardziej alkoholowa niz chmielowa, minimalny amerykanski aromat. Wysycenie niskie. Smakuje jak wytrawne, mocniej chmielone i srednio udane barley wine.

Lekki gashing. PIany natomiast brak.
