Some weird, cooked vegetables, off hop and herbal aromas. Pours black, nice tan head, average carbonation, oily texture. Taste is hoppy herbal, bitter, roasty. Some off flavours. Probably not its prime.

Zapach owocowo cytrusowy, w smaku silna paloność z alkoholowym finiszem, goryczka nie nachalna, ale trochę zalegająca.

Clear, deep brown body with a small, light tan head of decent longevity and good lacing capabilities. The aroma is very strong, sweet and the roasted malty parts and the fruity hoppy elements are in perfect harmony. The malt feels gently roasted with notes of sweet caramel and chocolate. The hops bring overripe tropical fruits and orange. The taste is moderate sweet and heavy bitter, unfortunately the bitterness is a bit sharp and grassy. The strong flavours are also in very good balance, with roasted notes, dark caramel, overripe tropical fruits, resin and grapefruit. The body is full, the texture oily and the carbonation is moderate to soft. A very successful BIPA, even though the mouth doesn’t quite live up to the eyes.
[33 cl bottle, enjoyed 1 year before BB date, from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo]

Opaque black beer, good pale cream - tan coloured head. Smooth palate, slightly soft and semi dry. Smooth dark malt with a little malt cream and a touch of licorice. Smooth and mellow pine hops with a nice balance of citric hops. Semi dry finish with a whisper of smoke. Smooth, rich and tasty.

33 cl bottle @ home, ”sell by 11/2014”
Resiny and hoppy aroma with some roasted tones. Also some sweet vanilla. Feels like Nøgne #100 as fresh. Flavour has hops, quite strong woody notes, some ash, gooseberry bush and roastiness in background. Quite aggressive hop profile here. Slight vegetable and bun dough notes in the background. I like my Black IPAs more roasted and less hoppy (as imperial stout, that is). Took a good while to finish the bottle, the drinkability isn’t that great either.

330ml bottle from Impexbeer

SELL BY 11/2014 - Pours pitch black with a smooth bubbly white head. Aroma of lovely roasty wood, massive amounts of dry grassy and resinous hops, licorice, chocolate and hints of ash. Taste is smooth, but massively hoppy with loads of roasty notes, wood, salty licorice, lingering fruitiness, grass, juicy lemony notes and chocolate. Finish is hoppy to the extreme with notes of roastiness, grassy resinous notes, juicy fruitness, chocolate, licorice and wood. Lingering bitterness just goes on and on. Another excellent beer for hopheads from these guys. Awesome! Note: Gets slightly worse with the yeast poured in, with some vegetable and doughy notes, so be careful when pouring this one.

KnutAlbert (6754) - Oslo, NORWAY - OCT 24, 2013
Bottle from Vinmonopolet. Almost black, fluffy beige head. Intense bittersweet. Coffee, grass, pine, mustard, grapefruit. The label says hop bomb, I won’t argue with that!

ClubGonzo (5670) - Bergen, NORWAY - OCT 6, 2013
Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen, shared with Maltmisjonen. Pours a deep brown, near-black body with a medium off-white head. Aroma is tropical fruits, red berries, sweet caramel, hints of toast, chocolate and grass. A bit strange in the sweetness department, otherwise nice. Taste, however, improves: herbal grassy tones, coffee, chocolate, pine, hints of licorice, caramel and red fruits. Very nicely balanced. Medium body and carbonation. A very well-crafted Black IPA with "the best of two worlds" in my opinion.
