Tap in a snifter at Village Tap during CCBW. Hard to we in the dark beer garden, but it appears to be a dark apricot color with a off white head that reduced to a film with a ring around the glass. Given a swirl, the head leaves speckles of lace on the glass. Copper penny and apple brandy aroma. Taste is sugar cane, rum, and beet sugar. Tropical fou fou barley wine? No, but it’s tasty. Sweet for sure, but not too much. I’m a little surprised at how take this is for the high ABV and a beer that is suposedly designed to age. Very drinkable now. Curious how it will age. I have a bottle and am now perplexed if I should sit on it. Look for this at an upcoming bottle share, I think... Mittenator (1612) - Michigan, USA - MAY 5, 2013
Bomber. Deep caramel amber with a dense beige head. Caramel, toffee, dark dried fruits and vanilla wood aromas. Big barrel flavors and sweet dried fruits. This stuff is amazing. burg326 (5545) - Florida, USA - MAY 3, 2013

Slightly dark amber pour, little to no head. Big spicy rum nose. Beautiful sweet malt profile, nice spice and heat from the rum on the finish. Really nice Barleywine, certainly on the sweet and boozy side. XmnwildX12 (2079) - Farmington, Minnesota, USA - APR 20, 2013
Bottle from Ryan, nice dark clear amber like apple juice. Aroma is some cinnamon, light wood character, sweet caramel as well. Taste is light fruit, almost apple like, caramel sweetness, very complex, outstanding different profile for a barley wine.

April 20, 2013 - bottle from my buddy Brett. Brownish orange pour with some head that faded quickly. Aroma was caramel, light fruit, sugar and wood. Taste was consistent with aroma, but had some nice heat that blended well with the sweetness. jmagnus87 (2912) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - MAR 30, 2013
From notes. Draft. Damn, this is good. Brown sugar and wood with dark fruits and some vanilla. I would love a bottle to bring with. hopheadsbrew (142) - Illinois, USA - MAR 23, 2013
Cloudy brown. Nutty vanilla nose. Thick creamy head. Toasted coconut, chocolate and vanilla flavor. Smooth lasting finish. DrnkMcDermott (3120) - Downers Grove, Illinois, USA - MAR 22, 2013
Draft at Standard Market. 10 oz. glass for $6. A deep, cloudy, murky brown. Lacy, thin strings of foam. Smell is rather light; no heady alcohol. A bit of fruity ester. BUT the taste is indeed big. Thick mouthfeel like a raisin syrup with a slight bit of cherry. Rum is very much in evidence, but hovers in the background. Despite the warming alcohol and thick mouthfeel, it’s not overbearing. Hops only serve to offset the sweetness, unlike a Bigfoot. A lot like a sherry, with a little rum to the rear. The 10 ounces is quite more than enough, thank you. So hard to do more than just sip this wonder. Dogbrick (13376) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAR 22, 2013
Sample at the Blarney Wine tasting on 03/16/2013: The beer pours a hazy mahogany color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Boozy aroma with malt and vanilla notes. Full, syrupy body with flavors of earthy malt, rum and wood. The finish is sweet with a rum and oak aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
