Bottle. Poured hazy reddish brown color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy dark sweet toasted malt, alcohol and wood aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Moderate to heavy dark sweet malt, alcohol sweet flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a complex standout beer.

Flavor is a bit on the hot side, more sugary sweetness. I don’t much care for big sweet american barleywines so this not a surprise that I didn’t love this. Nose is maple, strawberry, sugar, malted milkshake powder, mild cognac. Taste is sticky strawberry, sugar, warming alcohol, sticky orange. Appearance: The body is not perfectly clear, but I wouldn’t expect so from a wheat heavy beer aged in oak barrels. The color is a deep chestnut with garnet through. Not much head to note, even on the pour.
Aroma: At first the aroma is sweet of brown sugar, toffee and caramel, but dark fruits peek through with oak and some rum aromas, but they are very mellow. This smells nice, complex and intriguing.
Taste: This is intriguing and complex. On the intro this is sweet with caramel and brown sugar. During the mid-taste dark fruits make an appearance, but they are outshines by the sweetness of the caramel and toffee flavors, this is sweet and enjoyable. The finish hits hard with oak and alcohol that slightly burns, but quickly smooths out to a mellow rum flavor with a lingering touch of vanilla and a caramel sweetness. This is hard to keep up with because the flavor is constantly changing with flavors weaving in and out over the tongue.
Palate: Thick and slightly syrupy, soft carbonation that becomes slightly sharp.
Overall: This is complex and very enjoyable. The finish is a bit hot, but the flavors weave in and out constantly keeping my tongue entertained. This is an excellent beer, well done.
Deep ruby red pour with no head. Aroma of oak and alcohol. Mouth is syrupy. Taste is a mix of vanilla and oak. Alcohol is very present. Slightly astringent.

Appearance: Cloudy dark amber with a small off-white head
Sweet malts, brown sugar and ripe fruit
On tap at the brewpub. The rum aging is very evident here. Malty, slightly sweet, with great spice and a warming burn. Definitely a sipper. Happy anniversary Revbrew.
