650bl bottle purchased at he recommendation of my boss. Pour is a brownish red, not the most inviting beer in appearance. Smell is rum, pears, oak, caramel, and perfumey booze. Flavor is more of the same. A super-malty barleywine with a boozy, oaky rum tone. I like it as a sweet beer. Burning alcoholic palate which I like. Sample at the Blarney Wine tasting on 03/16/2013: The beer pours a hazy mahogany color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Boozy aroma with malt and vanilla notes. Full, syrupy body with flavors of earthy malt, rum and wood. The finish is sweet with a rum and oak aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Bottle thanks to Sarah! Pours a near clear deep amber brown with a grayish brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has caramel, toffee and sweet grains backed by a nice rum note. Flavor has a nice combination of caramel, toffee and rum/oak backed by sweet grains. daknole (11402) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - JUN 27, 2013
Light toffee colored pour, light brownish/yellow head. Flavor of brown sugar, burned sugar, raisins, light hops. Good brew. hopscotch (11236) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - DEC 9, 2014
Bottle... This beer rocks!… Pours hazy, dark and burnt-orange with a small, fleeting, off-white head. The aroma is fruity and malty with vinous esters and heaps of gooey caramel. Full-bodied and velvety with gentle carbonation. The flavor is boozy and rich, offering sweet caramel and esters of fortified wine – possibly cream sherry. Creamy, malty, über-warming finale. Kudos to newcigarz for sharing this world class beer! alexsdad06 (10778) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - MAY 3, 2014
Draft at Dutch’s Feb. 2013 notes. Pours a slightly hazy orange amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet caramel malts, lightly toasted bread, some fruitiness, rum barrel, slightly boozy, golden raisins, wood, molasses. Solid stuff, I have a bottle I should try soon.
