Growler purchased at the brewpub after work. Poured into my Stone tulip glass. Bastille pours a hazy deep brownish orange in color with about a fingers worth of off-white head. Head dissipates rather quickly to a still surface. Nose is a mix of saison and belgian yeast. There is clove, banana, and some grass. Flavor follows the nose in terms of the belgian yeast characteristics but it is accompanied by some pepper and tartness. There is also some light malt/breadiness on the finish. Light mouthfeel, moderately dry, some sweetness, moderate carbonation, and a medium finish. Nice beer! I love the Biere de Garde style and wasn’t sure what to expect from this, but it was a pleasant surprise. It could be a complete failure, but I would love to see how this would be after aging in some wine barrels.
Tap at Revolution. Hazy amber with creamy off white head. Massive cloves, some caramel, bitter herbs. They say this is supposed to be a French style beer, but it has loads of super strong clove notes almost like a Leffe. Medium sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with creamy carbonation. Aroma: The nose is fruity and yeasty mostly, it has noticeable spice, aome some earthy notes
Appearance: It has a copper-amber color to it, with a somewhat frothy khaki colored head and lace
Flavor: The taste is light-medium sweet, some spice flavors, and a bit of bitterness as well
Palate: The body is medium, it has a softer carbonation, and it finishes lightly dry and a little slick
This is a pretty interesting beer. There’s some nice stuff going on here, and the combination works solidly together. I have no major complaints about. I’d drink this one again.
A reddish amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with light plums and caramel, light mineral notes, barley candy. In mouth, a sweet fruity caramel malt with light vinous notes, a bit of mineral character, OK. On tap at brewery. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 7, 2014
5oz on tap at the brewpub. Clear orange color. Thin off-white head kind of cream colored head. Some loose bits of lace. Good big beglian kind of saison yeast in the aroma, a lot of fruitiness to it, light herbal and spice flavors. Fruity, like peach, light banana. Medium body. Smooth, lightly soft, lighter carbonation. More slick finish. Moderate sweet taste, light to moderate bitter, light spiciness. Solid hoppy flavorful biere de garde. Not as biere de garde-y as other biere de gardes, and a nice amount of fruitiness and hop carries it. Ktwse (5235) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 2, 2014
Pours light cloudy amber with low white head. Aroma of barnyard, hay, grapefruit, honey. Taste is sweet, honey and wheat, light fruit. Dry finish. Light and smooth body with soft carbonation.

Another typical fruity belgium beer. Hoppy and bitter finish. Smells fruity and pours orange in color. Had at revolution brewing.

On tap at the Kedzie Taproom, and dispensed to a tulip, showing a fairly clear, amber hue, with some off white head foam that reduced to a persistent ring and light film, leaving some lacing of light spots & streaks on the glass. The nose was fruity, lightly candy sweet, with some biscuity hints, light spicing, and a touch of tartness that transferred over subtly to the flavor. The taste was otherwise similar, a l;ittle less than medium bodied, lively carbonated, with a moderate hop bitterness. Flavorful, and easy drinking, with a 5.7% abv currently listed on the menu. Old rating. Pours amber with an off white head. Aroma of spice, banana, and caramel. Good flavor. Well done. drowland (8888) - Georgia, USA - AUG 26, 2012
8/11/12. GTMW. Amber pour with a nice khaki head. Spicy, estery yeast aroma with bits of spice, mint, and fruit on top of some caramel. Lightly spicy, yeasty, estery flavor with touches of mint and rubber tire on top of the caramel and malty aspects. Not bad. NobleSquirrel (3438) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 20, 2012
Draft at the brewpub. Pours a pretty reddish amber with a frothy offwhite head that persists to the bottom of the glass. Good clarity. The nose is lightly spicy, faintly sweet. Faint floral honey and a minty phenol note. Pretty clean overall. On tasting, some light caramel notes, moderate sweetness, dry finish. More of that minty quality comes across, which is pretty nice. I keep going back to the beer and find it actually a really solid beer. Some dark fruit comes through, the alcohol is definitely held in check. This would be cool with with some fruit in a wine barrel. Nice.
