Bomber purchased by drowland at RIBCO and shared with the table, thanks! Pours pitch black with no head at all, I was one of the last pours though, the aroma has quite a bit of dark chocolate mixed in with the oak and bourbon, pretty hot on the nose but not over the top, the flavor has a good amount of bourbon at first as well but mellows down as it warms, nice dark chocolate, cocoa nibs and vanilla in the finish, thick mouthfeel, good stuff. bluejacket74 (1992) - Reynoldsburg, Ohio, USA - DEC 23, 2014
22 ounce bottle, no date on the bottle or box that I could find. I believe it’s the recent 2014 release, since it was a new arrival at a local beer store about a month ago. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like roasted malt, vanilla, bourbon, dark chocolate, oak and some coffee. Taste is pretty much like the aroma, but in addition there’s also some milk chocolate, caramel and dark fruit noticeable. All the flavors in this brew mesh well together, and none of them overpower the others. With that being said, when drinking it you know this is a bourbon barrel aged brew! Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it’s creamy and coating with low/moderate carbonation. I thought this was pretty good, I wouldn’t mind picking up this one again. $16.99 a bomber. $9 snifter at the Taproom. Smell is cherry cordial, despite the idea that it is simply BB Aged. Taste is also, well, I’m going to throw in an overused word, but it’s "redolent" or what I think is cherry, but then there’s some vanilla coming in, and a bit of stickiness Finally, there’s the note of cognac and Bourbon that this strives for. Very smooth palate, the Stout part of this has mellowed considerably. I am aware that we beer raters Gove way too much weight to the heart barrel-aged stouts, but this kind of beer is worth every tick I can throw at it. jayzz (481) - Illinois, USA - NOV 27, 2014
This is a good stout beer. Good notes and sweet Bourbon. Enjoyable, solid, happy to have tried it.

On tap at the brewpub. Very smooth, but definitely heavier than the Mean Gene I had had previously. Similar, the bourbon vanilla flavors had nicely imparted into the beer. Chocolate, coffee, caramel, toffee, and such, like you’d expect. dwm1034 (784) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 19, 2014
DRAFT at RevBrew on Milwaukee in Chi-town. Pours almost black with minimal head and a burgandy edge to the beer on the glass. Evidence of the bourbon barrel aging comes thru the nose and initial tastes. Very smooth and full of flavors....chocolate; coffee; caramel....excellent!! drsordr (2655) - Loveland, Ohio, USA - NOV 15, 2014
Draft to sampler at the brewpub pour opaque black with minimal head. Nose light bourbon, coffee, dark chocolate. Fairly sweet in character. Taste similar to nose with more chocolate. The bourbon balances the flavor instead of overpowering. Oily mouth feel. nimbleprop (8376) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - NOV 6, 2014
5oz pour at the Revolution brew pub pours a murky black with brown edges and a ring of beige head. Nose has a lot of licorice, molasses too, the barrel is right there, caramel, plenty of vanilla, some raisin, some dried cherry, cakey, a bit boozy too. Flavor is like booze soaked chocolate cake, lots of vanilla, caramel too, brown sugar, rum, licorice. Full, boozy, sticky finish. Well blended. markducommun (1108) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 1, 2014
Dark deep brown, black, small deep tan head. Vanilla, oak, deep molasses, some light coffee notes. Deeply smooth sweetness, some lightish amount of roasted malt bitterness. Chocolate in the finish, very long, dries out. The alcohol is reasonably upfront, but not out of balance. Low carbonation, heavy body, slightly oily. Really nice.
