Shared bomber to snifters. Thick and oily. Light tan head. Great retention. Velvet mouth. Like a milk shake. Aroma of so much oak. Chocolate and roasted marshmallow. Year+ old bottle. kkleu357 (634) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 15, 2015
Smooth black body with a lighter brown head. Big aroma of bourbon and oak. Taste is lots of fudge and bourbon. Tons of oak also comes through. Very good. JBPortland (1547) - Hampton Roads, Virginia, USA - APR 19, 2016
22oz bomber pours oily dark black with half finger brown head. Awesome nose with rich brownie, vanilla, bourbon, marshmallow, spice and oak. Taste is similar with chewy sweet brownie batter, rich chocolate, char and roast, coffee, oaky vanilla. Finishes semi sweet, roasty char, super well done barrel treatment, Hershey and brownie with some boozy bourbon fruit and spice. Not much can approach BCBS for me but this is damn close. Fantastic.
Bottle sample courtesy of "Pavlov Badjewski". Colour...very dark brown with a thin tan head. Nose...massively Bourbon-like with brown sugar syrup and burnt marshmallows. Palate...a little thin, but the Bourbon makes up for it, big time! Incredibly boozy stuff with massive waves of burnt sugar, turbinado, char and ash. The finish is refined and polished, despite the heavy booze up front ( not that there’s anything wrong with that).

$9 snifter at the Taproom. Smell is cherry cordial, despite the idea that it is simply BB Aged. Taste is also, well, I’m going to throw in an overused word, but it’s "redolent" or what I think is cherry, but then there’s some vanilla coming in, and a bit of stickiness Finally, there’s the note of cognac and Bourbon that this strives for. Very smooth palate, the Stout part of this has mellowed considerably. I am aware that we beer raters Gove way too much weight to the heart barrel-aged stouts, but this kind of beer is worth every tick I can throw at it. bluejacket74 (1993) - Reynoldsburg, Ohio, USA - DEC 23, 2014
22 ounce bottle, no date on the bottle or box that I could find. I believe it’s the recent 2014 release, since it was a new arrival at a local beer store about a month ago. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like roasted malt, vanilla, bourbon, dark chocolate, oak and some coffee. Taste is pretty much like the aroma, but in addition there’s also some milk chocolate, caramel and dark fruit noticeable. All the flavors in this brew mesh well together, and none of them overpower the others. With that being said, when drinking it you know this is a bourbon barrel aged brew! Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it’s creamy and coating with low/moderate carbonation. I thought this was pretty good, I wouldn’t mind picking up this one again. $16.99 a bomber. koleminer20 (3704) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - FEB 6, 2015
22 oz bottle shared by Spencer. Thanks! The pour is a viscousy black with a dark khaki head that falls quickly leaving a small trace of head, but mostly settles as a ring. The aroma is really boozy. There is a lot of bourbon heat up front and a nice vanilla in the background. Dark licorice and fruits come through on the back end. The flavor is a bit sweeter. There is a nice licorice presence before the roasted malt comes in. There is a light dark chocolate that finishes up. I like how the bitter comes back on the finish but there isn't much vanilla or barrel. The mouth feel is thinner than I'd like. There is a good carbonation but it just doesn't keep it around long enough. The strong roast is nice, but there is a lot to be desired here. Good, but could be much better.

Shared bomber bottle by a friend. Poured a pitch black colour with a non lasting tanned ring. Notes of dark roasted malts, dark sweet chocolate, sticky sweet bourbon notes, oak, toffee, lots of spicy bourbon notes. Some dark fruits and raisins when it starts to warm. Full bodied and sticky mouthfeel. ratings should be way higher on this site. If you like bourbon stouts. You need to get this one!! mcberko (18065) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 23, 2015
22 oz. bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out smoky whiskey barrels, some roast and alcohol. Flavour is complex as hell, with smoky whiskey barrels, some roast and more smoky whiskey. This is so well done. Perfect amount of heat, smoke and whiskey. Phenomenal.
