On cask at the brewpub.
Part of an informal "one-off" series of cask-conditioned versions of "regular-series" beers that is neither announced ahead of time or listed on the beer menu. This version of Eugene was brewed with orange peel and dry-hopped with Cascade hops.
pours dark brown/black, opaque, with bubbly tan head that looks kind of like flat root beer -- pretty much on par for a cask beer. Aroma is chocolate and dark roasted grains with some sharp hop spice. Flavor is dry roast grain, slightly astringent, baker’s chocolate, little more than a hint of orange peel, and a pleasantly assertive spicy hop profile that is pungent and almost peppery like cardamom. Palate is medium and a touch watery consistent with a cask ale. An interesting and quite enjoyable brew.
