One of those porters whose head comes out in varying shades of cappuccino, rather pretty. Solid black beer underneath. Smell is a little light, but shows up with some chocolate roast malt at first sniff. Taste is of bitter cocoa and coffee, balanced by a little milk sugar sweetness. So there’s some grainy harshness from black malt, with a little support from some sweetness. I find myself liking it more than I would something with black bitter malt, but perhaps the balance again is speaking to me. Nit much in the way of individual hops to find. Expectation: other than the high ratings, I know little about the brewery. I’d love to be pleasantly surprised rumproasts (5478) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - AUG 9, 2014

Pours deep dark brown, nearly black, with low light tan head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, light raisins and dates. Taste is chocolate and roasty up front followed by a sweet finish. Light, somewhat sticky body with smooth, soft carbonation. DialSquare (5113) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - AUG 3, 2014
12oz can from Weilands. Brown pour. Aroma of brown sugar. Tastes are sweet malt and dark fruit. Sticky little dry finish. Crisp ready drinking. Little soda vibe.

Draft pour dark opaque brown with thin light tan head. Nose very light roast. Not much else. Taste some roast, but more metallic. Not as much as roast and chocolate I like. Mild roasty bitter finish. jackfrost9p (338) - California, USA - JUN 20, 2014
Loved this beer. Really nice and drinkable porter. Chocolate and caramel are very noticeable. GT (10001) - San Diego, California, USA - JUN 16, 2014

>> Pours deep cola, good tan foam, soda carbonation. Nose is sarsaparilla, licorice, plum, odd like an aged Abbey Dubbel with so much plum. Taste is oily, mild roast, dark cherry, booze. Chalky, dusty mouthfeel. Good, simple. Odd flavor combinations though.
Pours a black thick head. Has a nice rich choclate, roasted coffe aroma. Has a taste of sweet bread, chocolate, malt, smoke, and coffee. Is a little bitter finish. Overall a solid choice.

12oz can, pours black 2 inch tan head. Smooth and creamy feel, a little on the thin or light side for a porter, but a great tasting brew nevertheless. Great balance of malt hop, some complexity in the toasted and caramel flavors. A great beer for those trying a dark beer,
