COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A striking, robust porter full of warmth and chocolate malt. Eugene is a robust porter named after Eugene V. Debs, an American union leader and activist who led the Pullman Railroad strike in 1894. An assortment of Belgian specialty malts form a complex structure of toasted grain and caramel flavors. Dark chocolate malt makes this porter black as night and infuses it with its distinct intense, chocolate essence.

Pours dark coffee brown with a substantial, foamy, light cappuccino head. Nicely aromatic - roasted grains, chocolate, slightly sweet. Tastes of coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, with a faint hint of hops in the finish. Definitely on the sweet side. Palate has nice mouth-feel, with a light creaminess. Overall, very American Porter, featuring the sweeter notes, with barely a nod to the part sour heritage - nice beer.

Draught @ Malt and Mold. Translucent dark brown with small foamy beige head, mocha aroma, medium carbonation, caramelized malt-mocha taste, somewhat thick body, long mocha finish. Good porter.

Can thanks to grownfool. Black, with a gigantic brown head. Coffee aroma, with a lot of mildly sweet raisin, prune, and red wine. Taste is also on the sweet side, with red wine, raisin, coffee and chocolate. Odd, but I liked it.

12 oz can Filled: 11/16/16. Poured into a Union pint glass. L: Dark cola brown with two fingers of off white head. Fades to a thin film on top of the beer. Some pretty decent lacing stuck to the glass. S: Toasted malt, dark chocolate, caramel, chestnuts. T: Smooth milk chocolate blended with a roasted malt and slight dark fruit sweetness. F: Medium-full body, creamy, moderate carbonation. O: Hits most of the marks I like in a porter. What the aroma lacks is made up in flavor. Would be a regular in my lineup if it were distributed around here.

Refrigerated 12 oz. aluminum can poured into an English pint glass. Black with medium beige head. Aroma is chocolate malt, medium body, creamy texture, medium carbonation, and pretty good small-bubble lacing. Taste is chocolate, some nuts, a little dark malt and hop balance.

From a 12 oz. can. Pours a clear deep cola brown with a thick tan head. Nutty and toasty aromas. Flavors of cocoa and leather. Light roast finish.

On tap at Blind Tiger, pours dark brown / black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out toasted malt upfront, not much else. Flavour is along the same lines, with a meaty quality to the toasted malt. Big body despite the low gravity. Not especially complex but a thick feel in the palate. Very good.

Nice color and aroma.I missed the sweetness but must add there was no bitter either. Its a fair porter...has no real distinction forward to compliment.
