UPDATED: NOV 6, 2013 "Manager’s Special" as in "get rid of the Christmas beer" at Lemon Tree today. Pours a light reddish brown under a frothy head. Some wassail spices in the nose. Still some pungent piney hops on the tongue, almost knocking off the trail of ginger. Orange peel becomes pronounced as I go on through. Some alcohol warmth, despite being only a little stronger than any pale lager. Remember for next year: would be good maybe with dessert at Christmas dinner, maybe with a cinnamon stick swirled in.
12 oz can. Pours a nice amber mahogany brown color with a nice head. Nose is sweet and spicy with ginger and cinnamon. Taste is a little hoppy with orange citrus and full of flavor. Finish is fruity and sweet. Drjohnrock (761) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 25, 2017
From draft flight at BIERmarkt USA on January 14, 2017. Red/amber color, nice fruit/hop nose, good bittersweet flavor with caramel and dark fruit. Isn’t overloaded with spice like a lot of Christmas beers. Good change of pace holiday brew. phranq (172) - - JAN 25, 2017
Pours clear copper. Smell is sweet malt faint fruit and spice. Clean crisp body, pine fruit resin taste, nice finish shigadeyo (3730) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 21, 2017
Evergreen/pine and citrus hops in the aroma; cloudy orange color with lasting ivory-colored head; lots of spruce and ginger with some pine hops and a subtly aggressive bitterness, bitter peel in the finish and afertaste; medium to medium-full body, smooth texture; pretty good holiday brew that has a good balance of spice and hops, although i would have preferred slightly more pine/spruce and slightly less ginger, definitely different than many holiday brews. Draft at Dinosaur Bbq. I always try the ones with crazy names. Lightly spicy ale, some sweetness, and a yeasty, bready flavor. The holiday spices are lacking - maybe it is not fresh and the flavor faded, or they held back the spicing in this batch. This didn’t really move me much.

Clear, amber pour with a frothy, off-white head. The aroma is a little spicy with notes of ginger. It has a medium body with slightly sticky texture and average carbonation. The taste is bittersweet with a lingering finish. jflopsu (1590) - New Jersey, USA - DEC 16, 2016
Pours a clear amber with light tan head. A sweet caramel, malt and winter since aroma. A sweet winter spices taste with pine, hops, and sweet malts. A lingering winter spice aftertaste. hivemind (914) - New York, New York, USA - DEC 13, 2016
12.13.2016 Can at home from Whole Foods Billyburg Pours a dark purply-copper amber with giant eggshell head into shaker. Bread and veggie scents. Malt-forward palate with notes of plant and some dark grains. Not a lot of the holiday spice flavor that I would expect from a Christmas brew (nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, etc.) so it fell a little flat for me although I do get some of the orange if I look for it. hainer (20) - New York, USA - DEC 12, 2016
Just on the right side of too much of everything - except maybe for carbonation. The beer pours a nice, not too opaque, amber. Taste starts with a strong dose of ginger but that spice doesn’t overstay its welcome, or overpower the citrusy, herbal hints. A well done trick, perfect for the season. Poured from can ruby red with a nice tan head. Aromas of spices bread caramel malt and cookies. Taste is caramel spices linger breads and grain.
