Bottle from 77ships. Many thanks! @ RBBWG 2015. Dark brown colour, brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, vanilla, bourbon and a sour touch. Sweet, bit thin, bitter finish. Ok. 77ships (10844) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - FEB 15, 2015
Bottle sampled @ RBBWG IV. Personal contribution. Obtained in a trade with AdamJackson. Dark brown, blackish, little mocha head; Nose is bourbon, thick, vanilla, lots, candy sugar, unfortunately a bit sour. Taste is light odd bitter herbal taste leading into bourbon, vanilla, cold coffee, sweet finish is slightly tart sadly, light red berries sour. Body could be thicker. Seems off sadly, still tastes pretty nicely. Benzai (16569) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - FEB 14, 2015
Bottle @ RBBWG 2015 shared by 77ships. Opaque black color, average sized beige to light brown head. Aroma is malts, light vanilla, light touch of (Dutch) ’hopjesvla’, bourbon. Taste malts, bourbon, vanilla, sweet bourbon and light bitter. Medium body and carbonation. ElManana (2079) - Scheldewindeke, BELGIUM - FEB 14, 2015
Bottle at RBBWG shared by 77ships. Aroma is bourbon, chocolate, caramel and unfortunately a little sour. Tastes like bourbon, vanilla, some hops. Too bad there's a little sour. UDBeernut (2883) - Saint Johns, Florida, USA - FEB 13, 2015
A bit more barrel, chocolate and slightly fuller body than the bean gene, obviously less coffee and less astringency but still kinda meh.

December 28, 2014 - bottle from Famous. Dark brown pour with big head that faded quickly. Aroma and taste of roasted malt and bourbon. Slight dry and bitter finish. Medium body with some carbonation. AWISLguy (3288) - Wisconsin, USA - DEC 22, 2014
Bomber from Jim’s in Mundelein. Bourbon nose, without much underneath. Taste somewhat follows, with some faint caramel and chocolate showing through. Bourbon led and bourbon follows. Gene was a bit of a random porter, and Mean seems to miss depth as well. 14.1 on flavor of the vanilla-bourbon alone. raoul_duke (240) - - DEC 3, 2014
Smells distinctly of bourbon. Nice camel colored head. Excellent color, almost midnight black. Taste is amazing. Coffee and bourbon on the front, sweet (but not too sweet) on the back. This is really good and I will drink it anytime it is available. ARH (1138) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 26, 2014
On tap, poured into a sampler glass. The aroma is, initially, a strong bourbon with secondary notes of chocolate and pie crust. As the bourbon fades from the aroma, it becomes more more caramel in nature. It pours a near fully opaque, but sparkling (along the edges) brown with a medium, dense ring and wispy surface. The lace is dense, but runny. It’s highly, malty sweet with just a light touch of bitter. The beer is slick and a bit sticky with a light, prickly carbonation. The full body is all the flavors of bourbon, without the alcohol fire; so lots of caramel, chocolate, nuts, and wood with some cola late. There’s a sweet and roasty, sugary toffee finish with a woody and candy caramel aftertaste. pete4999 (1445) - Buffalo, New York, USA - NOV 24, 2014
On tap at the brewpub this past week, on release day I think (unintentionally). Lovely beer. Not too hot or boozy. A nice creamy, coffee-ish Eugene with a nice bourbon vanilla flavor.
