Had this at their place in Chicago. All the beer unless noted otherwise were good to very good. Unfortunately this was rated with another program and I can't import my comments. drewbeerme (3921) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 26, 2013
Pours black with off white head aroma has sweet molasses, smoke, tobacco, raisins, ash, and toasted oats. Flavors have chocolate malts, chewy wheat character, spicy dark fruity esters, dried out ashy finish. Hint of licorice and booze on the finish. Leaves the tongue all tingly like. I liked the beer a lot until it finishes twangy, phenolic, and boozy. But a lot of good aspects to this beer and it all works. Dogbrick (14344) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - NOV 18, 2012
Sample at the brewpub. The beer pours brownish-black with a medium foamy light beige head that dissipates steadily to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, cocoa and yeast. Light-bodied with flavors of chocolate malt, yeast and a bit of spice. The finish is toasty with a short malty aftertaste. Decent all around. deyholla (12590) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - NOV 17, 2012
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear dark amber brown with a brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a dark wheat note with dark fruits and a hint of Belgian spice. Flavor is a bit thin with light dark wheat and a hint of light fruit and spice. Theydon_Bois (21516) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - NOV 11, 2012
Tap at Revolution Brewpub, Chicago - 04/11/12.
Dark black with a thin tan head that retains well, good lacing ensues.
Malty nose, light roasting, grain, wheat, mineral tones, touch of smoke.
Taste follows from the nose, burnt toffee and sugars, light metallic.
Medium bodied, moderate carbonation leading to a roasty dry finish.

Deep deep brown color. Off white head. Medicinal aroma. Licorice and cherry in the aroma and taste. Lively carbonation. Kinda weird. Spotty lace. As it warms some cocoa flavor comes out. Tmoney99 (15137) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 9, 2012
Tap. Poured a black color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted malt and yeast aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium toasted sweet malt flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectation where met. jason1970 (143) - Illinois, USA - OCT 23, 2012
Not bad, but not as complex and flavorful as I hoped. I really love darker wheat beers and have had some really great ones. This is indeed sessionable, but not a standout by most standards. Chocolate, some dark coffee and wheat. Dark with very frothy beige head that leaves some lacing. No bitterness and not very complex. The first sip is the same as the last and none of the flavors pop as it warms. Overall, drinkable, but don’t go out of your way. Piece Dunkelweizen is a much better dark wheat offering. Old rating. Tap at Rev brewery. Pours black with a tan head. Touch of Belgian yeast, cocoa, coffee. Solid brew.
