Tap at the brewery. Pours gold with a white head. Light aroma and mild flavor. Touch of sweetness from the malt balances well with the floral and grassy hops. Okay pils TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - JAN 10, 2013
Draft pour on tap at the Milwaukee Brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a stark golden yellow pour, transparent with lively carbonation. A frothy whitish head atop is a firm film, dying to a solid fair lacing ring. Aromas offer mellow crisp grainy malts, grass and earthy hops, bit of straw and dryness. Mellow dry bitterness, kiss of spice. Clean and fresh. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied offering touches of lemon, bigger grass and earth. A good deal of bready dry malts, gentle fruit, Pils malts are plentiful. Straw, grass, dough and grainy malts. Middle shows some of that malty bounty, still clean but with a bit of girth for the style. Backend returns to a more dry and crisp feel, earthy hops, gentle spice. Lemon, some dryness, bit of soap, more straw, grass, earthy hops train on into the finish and linger on. I actually quite enjoyed this, pretty damn fresh, a bit of girth in the middle yet still light, dry, and spicy up front and as we finish. This Pils has substance and is quite the drinker. Nice stuff. On tap at the Kedzie location. Pours a crystal clear straw colored body with a finger-width, foamy and frothy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is lighter with some lightly sweetened pils malts giving off a slight breadiness. A light grass and a touch of fruit. Flavor is similar. Lightly sweetened and bready pils malts with a light fruitiness and a light-medium grassy bitterness. Dry and clean before leaving a medium length aftertaste. Light, crisp body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a simple, but clean and easy drinking pils that is nothing special, but enjoyable enough. Draft at Rev. Pours a bright pale gold with a sticky white head. Nose is sweet pilsner malt, soft herbal hops and grass. Clean fermentation overall. On tasting, moderate level of sweetness, light bodied. Some distinct pilsner malt and a medium bitterness. Kind of generic overall, reminiscent of Stiegl. Okay.
