Bottle dated Nov 1 2012, received Aug 2013. Got about 13 months on this baby. Nearly pitch black, dark cola hues, moderate frothy beige head, spotty lacing. Dusty nose of pale milk chocolate, hops, and even softer roasted malts. Dusty and ashy up front, pale roast, very old chocolate, with an aftertaste that really reminds me of caviar, cod caviar to be exact. Great on rustic bread, but in a beer, somewhat odd. They call this a Black IPA, I don’t get much hops. Does have a slight pasture aspect that I wish it didn’t have. Almost a fresh cut grass aspect at times. An odd duck for sure. Body and mouthfeel are moderate. Very stale chocolate on the exit, slight pasture, weak hops, with a touch of caviar. Could be the age on this one, 13 months from bottling date... At least those that wait on this now know what to expect ey? Seems like a Foreign stout aged witih a Dry stout at times.   Thanks Kevin for the bottle. Dark brown/black color; Medium to heavy slightly creamy body; Aroma of toasted malt, coffee, & dark chocolate; Flavor of roasted malt, caramel, coffee, some hops, and dark chocolate; Nicely balanced; Solid stout. GT (10002) - San Diego, California, USA - OCT 31, 2013
651mL shared at Congregation Azusa. Pours black with red highlights. Weak foam. Nose is hoppy black IPA style with dank hops, roast, tar, meat, olive. Taste is dusty, ashy moving to some buttery chocolate, hazelnut, slick dairy, coffee with creamer. Strange, maybe some diacetyl is in there but taken over by hop content. kcorum10 (437) - Idaho, USA - SEP 14, 2013
Pours a black with tan head. Aromas that remind me of a black IPA. I guess that is what they were going for. I enjoyed the beer, but if they are going for the BIPA, then go for it. Roast and hops are definitely on the nose and the tongue. I enjoyed it. burg326 (5594) - Florida, USA - SEP 5, 2013
Bottle shared, poured a black color with aromas of roasted malt, coffee, light grapefruit, some grass, and a touch of chocolate. Flavors were the same, decent malt profile, roast, and then some light citrusy hops, solid beer overall.

Dark brown pour with a tan head. Roasty, chocolate and a little coffee. A fairly standard stout. But ok nonetheless. daknole (11050) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - AUG 21, 2013
Dark brown pour, light brown head. Flavors of molasses, hops and a dry stout. Tastes like shoot Guinness foreign extra stout. pete4999 (1445) - Buffalo, New York, USA - AUG 5, 2013
Bottle. Smells pretty good and has a bit of pine in the nose, kinda a hoppy smell to it. Taste is similar but less hops and more in the chocolate sweetness that tends to dominate American stouts these days. Good beer, as always from them. Awktoberfest (404) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - AUG 2, 2013
It's a pretty fine toasty hoppy stout/ ipa... Good but not as smooth and loveable as I once remembered

Bomber. Pitch black pour with mocha head. Slight rim retention. Nose of roast and coffee. Taste of coffee albeit a fairly "instant" coffee type. Roast is nice. Bottled in Dec 2012 so the hops are almost nonexistent. A bit thin for a stout.
