Can shared. Pours hazy dark brown with a small offwhite head. Aromas of rye, caramel, vanilla, dark fruits, toffee. Taste has lots of dark fruits, spicy rye, bready malt, vanilla, light licorice. Hoprider (811) - DENMARK - FEB 21, 2018
Pours a thick dark copper colour with a very small off white head. Aroma has vanilla, leather, rye bread, raisins, sweet and ballanced barrel, I suppose rye but without the typical spice. The barrels and caramel malts work so well, this smells like a well aged English style barleywine. Taste as chocolate, caramel, sweet coffee notes, soft spices, bready notes, big wet barrel character. This is so nice and the finish and aftertaste is so pleasant. The mouthfeel is notably thick which fit the beer perfectly. Really surprised to see the meagre ratings. sawbuck (808) - Round Lake, Illinois, USA - JAN 6, 2018
Nice aroma of bourbon whiskey, some vanilla, and musty basement. Deep orange ebony color with a thin head. Very sweet up front. Notes of vanilla, bourbon, molasses, and charcoal. Bitterness is dry. Finish has some rye echoes. Nice warming effect. Tasty. rxeight (3344) - Illinois, USA - DEC 22, 2017
2017 12 oz can. Yes that’s right. A 13.7% barrel aged barleywine in a can.
The world has gone mad. Brownish caramel color. Toffee caramel and vanilla.
Candied sugar. Sweet and sticky.
Good amount of oak and barrel. Boozy but not overly. Rye spice comes through a bit. Low carb. jackl (8605) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - AUG 11, 2017

On tap at Essen House. Pours a deep gold with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of rye and caramel with toffee and sweet grains backing. Flavor has a combination of toffee, sweet grains, caramel and a bit of rye barrel backing. Tmoney99 (15322) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 27, 2017
Tap. Poured clear dark brown with a moderate frothy tan head that mostly lasted with very good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted malt, spice, wood with a small alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy complex sweet flavor with a medium to heavy complex sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid brew. koleminer20 (4385) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - DEC 31, 2016
From notes. Had in line while waiting for order forms at Dark Horse for the 4 Elf Party on December 9. 22 oz bottle. The pour is a clear-ish coppery orange color with a thin light tan ring of head that vanishes pretty quickly without any lace. The aroma is good. There is a spicy rye right up front with a lot of caramel and a decent maltiness. The barrel is pretty strong and there is a hint of vanilla. The flavor is a little better, because it’s more balanced. The toffee, light vanilla, good barrel, nice spicy rye, and a good charred oak really balance out nicely. The mouth feel is a little light with a nice carbonation and a lingeringly spicy caramel tinted oak. This is a solid offering. ebone1988 (2345) - Dearborn, Michigan, USA - DEC 9, 2016
