Draft at Kedzie. Pours a deep reddish brown, hazy with an offwhite head. Nose has an odd char quality and faint apricot. Very yeast forward with banana and pepper. Kind of out of wack. On tasting, sweet but astringent, noted black malt character and faint apricot on the finish. Again, the yeast drives the ship and is not handled very well. More control is needed with the fermentation. Not really a fan. kaser (6430) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 21, 2013
Poured from draft at Revolution brewery. Dark brown, almost black pour. Bitter and dank fruity and malt taste. Kinda thick. Big taste. Not a fan tho drewbeerme (3921) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 16, 2013
Draft at revo, pours hazed dark amber with white head. Aroma has sweet and spicy clove phenols, sweet caramel and toasted malt underneath. Flavors are sweet apricots and caramel, spicy finish, mostly cloves and mint but some fruity bubblegum coming through. A bit jammy on the finish. Carbonation is a bit sharp. 5 oz draft pour at the Milwaukee Brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a deep dark brownish ruby pour, copper glowing edges, touch of glow in the body and brighter woody edges. A frothy offwhite head dies to a small ring, laces small. Aromas are touches of toast, biscuit, and gentle yeast. Mellow spice, gentle citrus rind as it warms. Some apricot, fruit, toast, bread. Mellow spice. Initial is medium bodied, toasty and spicy up front, yeast presence hits a jab of cocoa, carmelized malts. Gentle spice, some citrus, and fruit. Touches of stone fruit. Middle is a bit yeasty, spice, and fruity esters. Dough, straw, gentle dryness and toasty malts. A bit of a darker slant, touch of cocoa, caramel. Some fruit, gentle apricot, spice and yeasty feel. Dry and darker finish leaves me a bit perplexed. A fruity darker Belgian feel, spicy and yeasty, medium body with some firm dryness and spice. Toasty, some biscuits, caramel, gentle citrus and apricot but the fruit addition is a bit harder to find. An oddity, not my thing personally, but a solid beer. Some of the apricot nose and fruity citrusy zing as it warms gains me back a bit. User29624 (1687) - - JAN 6, 2013
Tap at brewpub. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, spice, light fruit. Good flavor and sweet. Good balance with citrus and spice. Enjoyable.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a deep ruby-brown colored body with a finger-width, creamy, beige-tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is fruity, spicy, and malty with some pleasant floral apricots, Belgian yeast, caramel, hints of toast and cocoa, light citruses, and some yeasty spices. Flavor is similar. Caramel, floral apricots, light citruses, Belgian yeast and some fruity esters, a light citrus rind, hints of toasty cocoa, bread, and light spices. Finishes dry and somewhat spicy with a bit of a citrus fruitiness, Belgian yeast, and some sweet malts with a light warmth. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a solid beer. Nice balance between the malts, yeast, fruit, and spices. I enjoyed this one.
