Cask conditioned at The Craven Arms, Birmingham. Reddish brown with white head. This beer had a toffee like start, slightly boiled note which developed an earthy character later on, there was dryness, bitterness and a woody, twiggy note. It was ok. Cask at the CP&K, Scopey’s Birthday Bash. Hazy deep amber beer, good cream coloured head. Light dry palate. Tiny bit floral. Mild dark malt character. Pretty bitter hops - too much so - all bitterness, no fruit. Dry finish. No, not for me!
Pours deep red/brown with a loose white head. Aromas of butter, rich chocolate malt, raw malt. Flavours of toffee, liquorice, roasted malt. Relatively sweet and rich coffee finish, with a light bitterness rounding it out.
