tombyars (1621) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - OCT 23, 2016
Tasted this at the Troon beer festival on the 7th October 2016. Cask, gravity dispense. Dull black in colour with a thin creamy buff head. Malty aroma with notes of sweet treacle present and short on the nose. Thin oily mouthfeel and poor lacing. Dark malt complex gives a maltloaf base with flavours of chewy treacle toffee, mocha coffee and dark chocolate. There is a slight dry dusty hop prickle coming through in the short bitter aftertaste. Finish is sweet and malty with treacle toffee and mocha coffee still lingering on the palate. Tastes far stronger than the weak OG implies. Good session Porter with decent complexity.

downender (8039) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - MAR 9, 2016
Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 8/3/2016. Jet black with a decent, beige, head. Plain chocolate, roasted malts, a hint of blackcurrant sweetness and a dryish finish. Enjoyable.

BeerViking (4298) - Brentford, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 21, 2015
Cask at CBC Clerkenwell, near black with a fast-settling head, lots of cocoa, a little umami, a little watery, pretty burnt-bitter, more a chocolate Porter than a London Porter.

September 21, 2014 - at Craft Clapham; on handpull. Black pour with a smallish beige/tan foamy/creamy head - some legs on the side of the glass too. Aroma - nice! - oil, tar, rope, burnt pumpernickle and coffee - lovely friggin stuff. Taste follows, more straightforward - nutty, a bit of iodine but less earthy sharpness - I swear I got some burnt marzipan in there; good. Thick, oily mouthfeel - a bit still, medium length somewhat charred finish - lovely beer.

Cask at the Euston tap. Opaque reddy brown coloured pour with a lasting loose light tan head. Aroma is woody roast, smooth creamy coffee, light vanilla. Flavour is composed of charred wood, acrid bitter coffee roast, some ashy. Palate is watery, thin and creamy, low carbonation. Meh.
