Decent sweet malt aroma. Some burnt caramel. Dark brown sugar color and a medium palate. Flavors were earthy malt with a slight sweetness. Strange aftertaste. Drake (14038) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 31, 2015
12 ounce bottle thanks to Secret Santa Summer 15. Thanks! Kind of a terrible label. Dark amber, large foamy tan head. Good retention. Aroma of toffee malts, earthy hops. The taste is toffee, caramel, earthy hops, a bit of a tart fruitiness. Medium bodied. maekchu (4001) - Hirakata, JAPAN - JUL 4, 2015
Bottle. Thanks, Nate. Mild dark roast nse, kind of flour-like chocolate, and some pungent raisin notes. Dark copper color. Caramel, honey, sweet dark fruits, raisins. Thin-medium body. Seems extract like, but good flavors. KyotoLefty (10531) - Kyoto, JAPAN - JUL 4, 2015

This beer pours murky, light brown with a tan colored, mostly dissipating head. Beer smells malty with caramel and bread notes. Taste is initially lightly bitter. It finishes sweet. A good beer but not destined to be one of my favs. Probably pretty good for the style. Prost! ttoadee (1535) - Austin, Texas, USA - DEC 14, 2014
Deep Russet brown with amber highlights, tan head. Nose is caramel, coco and a hint of cherries. Sweet. Middle is dark honey, dark malt. Finish is a little chewy, a little boozy, and somewhat drier than the rest. drjay44 (3772) - Salida, Colorado, USA - NOV 29, 2014
12 oz. bottle. Pours a thick, well retained, light beige head, with heavy lacing, over a clear, but particle laden dark copper (SRM 18) body....nose is heavy toasted malts, with light dried fruit notes, including plum, raisin, hints of toffee/caramel, light earthiness, slight hints of mint, balance to the malts....taste is moderately sweet, with plum, raisin, toffee/caramel notes, light earthiness, woody notes, finishing with light bitterness, balance to the malts.....mouth feel, medium body, slightly sticky, minimal alcohol, moderate carbonation, but with creamy texture. This is a pleasant iteration of the style. The biggest flaw is appearance, with the particle laden body, but how was it stored? Both aroma and flavor were malt forward, with light hop support. The Northern Brewer came through nicely, as did the malts. BJCP 7/1/13/4/6 ZacM612 (748) - San Antonio, Texas, USA - NOV 26, 2014
At Scardello. Brown with beige head. Malty aroma, some caramel and a little chocolate. Smooth, medium body. dlihcsnatas (763) - Temple, Texas, USA - NOV 24, 2014
Dirty brown brew. Lots of junk floating about in the beer. Poured next bottle very slowly and left the last ounce in bottle, it was cleaner than the first but had no head. Smells of bread or toffee so it smells OK. Taste was a let down. There is a dark malt flavor but also a slight burnt flavor that just makes this not that great. Since I am only getting 11 ounces out of each bottle and this cost $3 more per six pack than other better tasting bocks on the market it is a major never again purchase.
