0.7 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20
Beautiful in a sort of vapid, chalky, earwax kind of way. ..................
12oz - I am actually impressed by the color and lace. There is more here than with BMC. ROGUE (2216) - Lewes, Delaware, USA - DEC 1, 2010
12oz bottle (old review). Poured a medium golden color with a frothy head. Smell is virtually non-existent with only a light grassy sweetness. Taste is also very light with some corny notes. Finishes with nothing but wetness. Very macro lagere like. JAF737300 (1291) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 13, 2006
I actually think this is much better than yesteryear. I would drink this over a Miller/Bud anytime. It actually has some nice grain flavors. beerbill (3618) - Laurel, New York, USA - JUL 12, 2005
12 oz. can. Definitely an improvement over the Rheingold we drank 25 years ago for 99 cents a six pack! Pours a clear yellow with a thin white head. Crisp and dry tasting. Really not a bad beer. I am told this brand is based on the original Rheingold formula from the 1940’s and 50’s when Rheingold was the #1 beer in NYC. beaconstreet (811) - Washington DC, USA - SEP 28, 2004
I remember this as very very dry, something my father loved but that I didn’t catch on to so much. Distinctive flavorful palate, definitely lingers in your mouth. Kind of a light brown color. Bubbly, and old school calligraphy on the bottle. When we bought this, it said it was made in Utica--I now understand that as part of a big campaign to revive the beer, it’s being made in Brooklyn once again (?) as it was years ago. Maybe they saw the success of home grown Brooklyn Brewery in the last decade and want to ride along. Speaking of riding along, is that an NYC Subway car in the background of this pic?

Aroma is not really much of a factor here. Pale golden in color, slight head. Flavor, surprisingly, is not much of a factor either. There is a brief twinge of sweetish malt on the finish, but otherwise is quite watery. This is just another fizzy yellow beer. I just received a few cans as a present, I think I'll do likewise and give the rest away. Aurelius (5570) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JAN 26, 2003
Grainy and crackerish. Midline without a whole lot of anything going on. Points for the painted label.

I'd rather drink Busch. Disgusting aftertaste--I won't even call it "palate". Wondered why a 6pack sold for $2.99 and now i know. grant (842) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - JAN 10, 2003
UPDATED: MAR 11, 2003 This is a bad beer. Sweet with little malt underpinning. Probably the most colorless, lifeless beer I've ever seen. Thick, quickly dissipating head. Sweet aftertaste. Has a tomato-like taste throughout.
