COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ribstone Creek’s new Old Man Winter Ale has a notable chocolate character alongside some roastiness and caramel sweetness. The aroma is fruity and roasty. The beer is well bodied and starts sweet, malty and chocolatey then finishes a little drier and roasty. It is 6.6% abv and has a color of 21 SRM, which is dark brown, bordering on black. Ribstone Creek wanted to have something special to mark the holiday season. Keeping with the spirit of Christmas, this beer is dark and rich, something that fits well with the cold nights and traditional meals and desserts of the season. "This beer will be unfiltered, making it more natural," said Ribstone brewery Aaron Hogarth.

From a can. 355ml as a bonus. Dark, not much foam. Good balance of sweet and bitter, malt and coffee. Excellent Porter.

Clear dark brown pour with red tinges and small beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, grains, caramel, chocolate and faint hops. Taste of roasted malts, caramel, grains, bittersweet chocolate and slight hops and hint of fruits. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, perfectly balanced . A real good surprise on taste and quality, good job!

355ml can. (6.5% ABV) Pours a clear dark brown with a medium, creamy, long lasting, tan head that laces. Sweet malty aroma of roast, dark chocolate, caramel and dried fruit. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, caramel, dried fruit and a hint of molasses with a dry, mildly bitter coffee finish. Medium body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. A pleasant surprise.

Dark brown body with a light head. Aroma of caramel. Body matches aroma but with a bitter dark chocolate undercurrent ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a dark brown with a little head and no lace. The taste is black coffee, dark chocolate, caramel and dark fruits. It all ends with bitterness at the end. Nice mouth feel, with just the right amount of carbo. I’d buy it again.

A bit lighter in mouthful than expected. Also had casked version with chilies at Calgary beer festival. Dark murky brown with thin tan head. Coca, espresso and licorice. Malty and rich with light bitterness.

Aroma is dark sugars, caramel, toffee. Taste is dark roasted malts, light chocolate, toffee, coffee and vanilla beans. Hop balance is decent and finishes relatively smoothly. Appearance is a clear amber with a thin pearl head that retains fairly poorly.

Thanks Tony. Thin deep brown with off white head. Big chocolate and coffee aroma. Really nice and easy drinking, something sits weird with me.. A spice or something is there but I don’t know what. It’s a good beer
