Very nice....Amber pour with minimal head. Aroma is malt heavy. Taste is slightly bitter with some malt a syrupy sweetness. Finishes well with a slight lingering bitter aftertaste. SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - DEC 11, 2007
In the bottle at the 2007 Crescent Moon Holiday Beer Tasting. Pours dark gold with a thin white head. A very clear beer. Deliciuos malty body with lots of caramel flavors. The ethanol burn is extreme. The hops are very smooth in this one. They seem evenly distributed. This might be my favorite English barleywine, but is certainly the best Ridgeway product I’ve had. Bottle... Crystal clear amber in color with a pillowy white head - lots of lace. Aroma is very sweet with a strong nose of cane syrup. Flavor is very floral, sweet, almost cloying. There is a strong appearance of alcohol especially towards the finish. A very decent barley wine. johndoughty (5521) - cheslyn hay, West Midlands, ENGLAND - AUG 25, 2008
Bottle. Amber and very clear. As you would expect there is a strong presence of alcohol which hits you as soon as you start drinking. Malty and full bodied. To be treated with respect. Very nice. lemasney (398) - Trenton, New Jersey, USA - JUN 15, 2009

sweet, syrupy aroma, deep brown body under a white head, quickly dissipating, cloying, syrupy, sugary, unbalanced, blunt mouthfeel, Slightly unrefined for the style. Blunt, dull, and hammering.

Bottle. Dark amber with small whitish head. Sweet, plum, alcoholic but good.
Low on hops but rich in malt. Caramel. Embrouille (2854) - SWITZERLAND - MAR 2, 2011
Bottled 50cl. It pours a beautiful bright clear light amber beer with a small creamy nicely lacing light beige head. Marshmallow, peach, white chocolate, candy floss, fudge, almonds, alcohol and lychee showing up in the nose which is remarkably interesting and unique. Full bodied. Very low carbonation. Syrupy. Warming on the swallow. Not much bitterness. Sweet. Leafy. Slight fennel and cinnamon reminiscence in the finish which is a bit short. A beer with plenty of character. laiti (8507) - Tampere, FINLAND - JAN 21, 2012
50 cl bottle vintage 2008 @ home, BBE 16.10.2011Joealpizar (23) - - DEC 24, 2012
Aroma has rather lots of raisins, some toffee and alcohol. Also some ripe fruits like apricot and hints of moldy cellar. Flavour is sweetish with apricot, raisins and some warming alcohol. Also hints of moldy cellar in the background. Nice and warming!
Powerhouse and will lay you out. A sweet smelling amber color beer. Wyane nj (12-24-12) ansalon (4102) - Stockholm, SWEDEN, SWEDEN - JAN 17, 2013
Plum, raisins and dried fruit on the nose while taste is plum, sugar, dried apple and caramel. Quite nice!
