COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ridgeway FES bottle matures in a similar way to vintage port. Roasted malts and leaf hops initially provide an aroma of breakfast coffee and fresh spices that gradually fades to reveal licorice, caramel and raisin notes that are products of the ageing process. Beneath all this change sits a solid and resilient backbone of bitter English hop. Satisfyingly foreign. You might even imagine the glow of the peat fire?

From 0,5l bottle. Pour clear dark brown to black liquid, against spotlight red, with small tan head with medium bubbles, fell off quickly. Aroma: Espresso, red fruits, licorice, dark chocolate. Taste: medium sweet, medium bitter, light sour, roasted malt, dark chocolate, red fruits. Palate: full body, oily texture, soft to average carbonation, long bitter, roasted dry finish. Overall: very good piece of Stout. Full and rich. Appreciate.

Bottled. In its category. I think this stout is very good! Rich aroma of roasted malt, caramel, dark chocolate, some minor spices used for meat like spare ribs. Taste is pretty the same which is good. Overall a very tasty bottled stout. Abv is pretty high, hidden and hence deceptive. The beer is too easy to drink for 8% abv.

Idiosynkrasie (7436) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - FEB 12, 2014
500ml bottle. Ruby red glowing, darkest brown colour with small to average, creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Roasty dark malty aroma, a touch of liquorice and dark chocolate. Taste is roasty dark malty with some underlying sweetness, a touch of caramel and dark chocolate, fruity hints of raisin.

Sample at a tasting. Dark brown body with a white head. Roasted malt and chocolate. Quite thin, but pleasant.

Handypaul (550) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - JAN 20, 2014
Bottle. Pours brown with a small off white head that leaves some lacing. Light body, aroma of bread, caramel, lightly bitter/lightly sweet taste, texture is thin, flavors of lightly toasted malt leading to a brief watery finish.

panacea (94) - Mölndal, SWEDEN - DEC 31, 2013
Thin head which settles fast. Clear black color. Roasted and sweet notes in aroma. The taste is unfortunatly not balanced enough, should be more residual sugar in my opinion. Also a bit thin body. Quite drinkable for the ABV though.
