Mediocre English barley wine but still hit the spot on a cold night. Thin corona, golden body. Strong aroma of bitter oranges, plus butter and bread. Flavour dominated by Cointreau and alcohol. Minimal hop presence - almost verging on malt liquor territory here. Sweet and boozy. Guilty pleasure for mine - I like it more than the overall package probably warrants. (330ml bottle from Leura Cellars.)

Crystal clear, pale amber body with a small, short-lived, off-white head that doesnt leave much lacing. Malty and strong aroma of caramel, overripe generic fruits, dark dried fruits and alcohol, with citrus, anise seeds and other spices in the back. Strong flavour of boozy alcohol, caramel, overripe generic fruits, dark dried fruits, anise seeds and pale malts. Moderate sweet taste followed by an aggressive, grassy and quite heavy bitterness. This is definitely not a US barley wine.

Bottle pour at Shelton Brothers. Boozy nose with orange marmalade showing bold. Balanced and smooth on the palate with the alcohol better hidden. Dry on the finish.

Sample from a bottle at DE 2016. Clear amber colour with an off-white head. Aroma and flavour of malt, dried fruit, sweetness, spice, sweetness and bitterness.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear golden with a white head. Aroma is sweet malt, British yeast and alcohol. Rich, sweet body, fruity alright with quite some late bitterness. But very boozy and hard to drink as its not overly complex. More like a Malt Liquor in a cute bottle. 150816

Carbonizzazione bassa, corpo strutturato.

11.2 oz. bottle (#00060) from Party Source. Pours a clear golden color with a medium sized eggshell head that didnt last. The aroma has some buttery notes indicating a diacetyl problem. Flavor has caramel, butterscotch, mild fruity notes, a slight alcohol burn, mild herbal character, sweet, mild bitterness to the finish, this is disappointing.

Biggish white head. Clear amber body. Fruity toffee aroma with delicate perfumy solvent notes. (Yes, I do mean delicate perfumy solvent notes, however odd that sounds.) Sweetish mineraly spicy fruity taste with wooden herbal notes. Fullish body. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish fruity mineraly spicy aftertaste with wooden herbal notes. This tastes like it would be amazing in 5-10 years. Its really, really good already. (0.33l bottle, from Systembolaget, Torp.)

Bottled. Pours orange hazy with small head and long lasting lacing. Dry, grainy aroma with caramel, sugar, butterscotch and honey. Taste is semi-sweet with honey, caramel and butterscotch. A little bit off. Barley wine?

Bottle from a trade with Cunningham. Pours clear dark golden with a big fluffy white head. Sweet grainy aroma, raisins and date. Sweet taste, with a weak burn of alcohol at the finish, mixed with spicy sweet grains, nah, or rather meh
