4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAY 30, 2013 Wow...Had it on cask which is always a great way to drink an imperial stout. Dark and smooth with the typical imperial stout aftertaste
Bottle, 33cl. Opaque dark brown, creamy tan head. Musky aromas of roasted malts, dry fruits, light alcohol. Full bodied, fizzy carbonation. Thick and creamy. Medium to heavy sweet, medium bitter. Rich malt and fruity flavors into a heavy, warming finish. Very pleasant. Percy0103 (768) - MEXICO - JUN 13, 2017
Bottle, 355ml. A dark beer with minimal brown head. Roasted aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, nuts and alcohol. Taste is medium bitter with a roasted aftertaste. Medium to roboust bodied with moderate carbonation. Somewhat milky finish with a hint of mint and slightly acidic. Muggus69 (2531) - Yarram, Vic, AUSTRALIA - MAY 6, 2017
330mL bottle from Bucket Boys, Sydney. 2016 vintage bottle #6821
Not the darkest of stouts - more a deep brown body, ruby edges, holds a small beige head.
Aroma of moderate intensity - roast nuts, vinous black & red fruits, wood & raisins, touch of black coffee & bitter chocolate.
Thick rich syrupy body, plenty of weight & lets you know whose boss from the get go, low carbonation.
Packs more flavour than the aroma suggests - rich chocolate cake, sweetened espresso, molasses, raisins, with an underpinning vinous/red wine plummy, blackberry/currant woody sort of note. Bitterness builds on finish, as does warmth.
Looked a bit pale, but plenty of character here! Ernest (7721) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - APR 28, 2017
Bottle (2015 vintage).
Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing.
Body is dark brown to black.
Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, unsweetened chocolate), with notes of sherry, nut shells, cardboard, vanilla, alcohol.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, papery.
Full body, oily/velvety/syrupy texture, soft/lively carbonation, moderately to heavily alcoholic.
The aroma is rather simple and a bit too oxidized for my tastes. There’s a sour twang in the mouth I’m not fond of either, and the aftertaste shows the oxidation too. Pretty dull/average all around. wlajwl (6880) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - APR 18, 2017
Aroma is dark malts, dark fruit/raisins and a hint of perfumed sweetness. The flavor is dark fruit, dry dark malts, chocolate/dark chocolate and a mix of acidity, mild sweetness and increasingly warming/alcohol in the finish.

Black with thin tan head. Aroma of dark dried fruit and tar. Fruity with burnt sugar and tar flavors. Nice viscous body with a long burnt malt finish. JPDIPSO (6236) - Wauwatosa, USA - DEC 31, 2016
Brown color with a modest, but stable, tight, tiny bubbled head. Toasted to lightly roasted malt, dark breads, along with hints of chocolate and licorice. Sweet start, leading to roasted malts, mild coffee and light alcohol. Dark fruits near the finish. Linger is of dry roasted malts to a black roasted bitterness. Full, nearly oily feel. 1/14

En rigtig imperial stout. Der er virkelig smæk for skillingen på stout-noterne. God øl!! Cybion (188) - Kent, ENGLAND - NOV 19, 2016
Bottle, 330 ml. Pours jet black with a thin sheen of light tan head and some substantial lacing. Nose is quite sweet - fudge, toffee, chocolate cake, cocoa powder, licorice, slight coffee and roasted malt, hint of booze. Taste of dense caramel/toffee, more cocoa powder, mocha, more prominent roasted malt, cognac, dark honey and dark fruits towards the end - again very sweet! Lingering honey and light bitterness. Body is light for a style (a medium otherwise), texture is smooth and silky, carbonation is practically nonexistent. Definitely unbalanced in favour of sweetness, but I liked it a fair bit. shrubber85 (11460) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - NOV 18, 2016
Bottle. Chocolate fudge malt and dry hay aroma. Black with moderate tan head. Moderately sweet chocolate malt, and moderately bitter dry hay flavor. Good body. Tasty.
