UPDATED: MAY 30, 2013 Wow...Had it on cask which is always a great way to drink an imperial stout. Dark and smooth with the typical imperial stout aftertaste berkshirejohn (6522) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - JAN 19, 2013
33cl bottle, 2012 vintage, bottle number 3979, from Bitter Virtue, Southampton. A dark chocolate brown pour with a ruby red glow, and a thin beige head; rich, milky chocolate aroma; thick, coating the mouth like a chocolate malt milkshake, with a tingling, fruity, bitterness that seems to give you a hug; then a mellow finish with traces of coffee and cognac - the alcohol being well hidden. An extremely satisfying nightcap. worldbeertaste (1804) - West Midlands, ENGLAND - JUL 31, 2014
Dark brown with a red tint and fizzy, tan, frothy, lacy, lasting head. Nice smell of roast, deep coffee, and lots of sweet milk chocolate. Medium frothy oily body. Nice roast with a full taste of malt, raisins, roast, and a burnt, coffee chocolate finish. The finish is so delicious that it keeps my tongue burnt. Delicious. 2012 Vintage: 330ml bottle into a Westmalle chalice at home on 11th Dec 2015, most likely to finish the rating in the early hours of the 12th Dec 2015. Dark bodied with a wispy tan head, a mini-collar but not much else. The nose is awesome, prunes, dates, booze, Port, Sherry, Oak and goodness. The taste blew me away, all those aromas plus more booze and more booze blended with Oak and red berries soaked in alcohol pods (are there such things?). Did I mention booze yet? Just a fantastic brew: loved it. Goes really well with Chocolate Hobnobs! Karol (921) - SLOVAK REPUBLIC - APR 19, 2013
Bottled. Aroma of dark chocolate, espresso. Color dark black. Tasete is low body refreshing, but dark chocolate, coffee. Refreshing and tasty.

Pours dark brown, appearing almost black in glass, short and thin beige head. Sweet malty aroma has licorice, dark bread, ripe dark fruits, bit ash. Great palate, full and round, sweet but with balancing bitterness, long roasted finish has coffee and malt, standard carbonation. Enjoyed, nice flavors, balance and feel. Excellent balanced beer, I really love these imperial stouts. Well, I think I’ve tasted two, but can’t complain about those. Roasty, caramel, chocolate, medium bitterness, ripe plums, citrus and nice hops. It’s a pity that it was only a small special batch at the alcohol store. zacgillbanks (5288) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - AUG 15, 2014
Bottle from York Beer & Wine. Inky black with a rapidly disappearing tan head. It has bitter dark chocolate, oak, liquorice and leather flavours, gentle red fruit and currants with a warming roasted coffee finish. Excellent!
