Imperial Red Ale
"My goodness", muttered Claus, recalling his visit to the Institute, "the restrictive outerwear, the padded room-even padded Christmas tree ornaments. Horrifying! Yet the little chap seems happier than hes ever been" Claus took a thoughtful sip of a most warming red ale. "Perhaps sanity is over-rated...Ho,Ho,Ho!"

Poured an orange color with aromas of fruit, caramel and some spice reminiscent of a holiday mead. Flavors match the aromas with aromas alcohol boozy aftertaste. Not much in flavor just booze and light caramel and some sweetness.

Bottle from Bier Huis. Pours orange, thick gloopy, orange, no head really, probably the most viscous Ive ever seen a brew be. Smells like a Christmas Pudding. Dark Fruits, Raisins, Plums, Caramel, Toffee. Like drinking Treacle, its that thick. Initial plums, cherries, raisins, caramel, toffee, port, blackberries, touch of fizz, very fruity. Breadiness too. Very good.

Bouche trs sucre, bonbon, bois, banane. Surprenant mais pas fabuleux...

11.2 ounce bottle, 2013 vintage, label stamp says best before 16 09 23. Served in a snifter, the beer pours a clear orange/amber color with maybe a quarter inch off-white head that didnt stay around for very long. Theres a decent amount of lacing. The aroma starts off boozy, with some toffee, candied oranges, stone fruit and some caramel malt noticeable. The taste is mainly sweet and boozy, it tastes like dried fruit (stone fruit and dark fruit), booze, and bready malt. The booziness just seems worse the longer I drink this, and unfortunately so does the overall flavor of this brew. Mouthfeel/body is medium, its syrupy and coating with moderate carbonation. This isnt bad, but it wasnt exactly good either. Maybe it needs more age on it, who knows. Its worth trying once, but I likely wouldnt buy this again.
