COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered. 5.8%.
To get a subtle smokiness we brew with Scottish peated whisky malt, English pale and roasted malts and boil only whole leaf goldings hops. Querkus is then patiently cold matured over pieces of old French oak barrels. The flavours from the toasted wood slowly seep into the beer; bottling only when we think it is right.

Bottled, dark amber color with tan foam, nice smoke and some ash aroma/flavor but tends to be a little one dimensional without the fatty brisket notes that make these stand out, like a Louie Muellers in a glass

Shared 500ml bottle. Pours a clear dark amber with an initially fizzy light beige head. Aroma of malt, hints of smoke, caramel. Taste is malt, smoke, burnt wood, and some unpleasant, unidentifiable flavor that ruined the beer for me, despite an aroma that had some potential. Did not finish.

Aroma: lots of smoky malt, but not too overwhelming; Appearance: extremely dark amber but a clear pour that glows red in the light; fluffy offwhite head that dissipates slowly; Taste: more bitter than expected, smooth, roasty; nice; Palate: heavy body with long, roasty finish; Overall: very pleasant. Probably wont get again but not bad.

Deep brown pour, quickly retreating head. Nose is smoky malt, not overpowering. Bittersweet. Middle is soft toffee, coco, and oaky malt. Finish is medium sweet and long.

Smager ikke meget af porter men en lille smule af rg. Den kunne godt have mere dybde da den svinder under indtagelse.

Taphouse 41. Very dark brown with disipating off white head. Smokey and malt sweetness in nose. Root beer comes to mind then the roast and smoke comes in. Thinner palate. The soda quality is throwing me.

Bottled, 500ml from S.H.Jones in Banbury. Reddish brown with beige head. I did pick up a slight smokiness in the aroma which was followed by a peat bonfire note. There was also a sweet vegetable character, quite earthy, boiled malt flavours. Mixed but ok.

330ml bottle at home. Poured a deep dark ruby with a very thin tan head that soon dissipated. Immediate smokey aroma, hints of smokey, toffee, cocoa. A good smoked porter.

330ml bottle from, well, I have no idea. Stuck at the back of the shelf for God knows how long and now its day has come. Very nice aroma, smokey woodchips with some cocoa beans. Taste is lovely and smooth, light smoked character with some subtle chocolate and a hint of vanilla. Lovely stuff.
