   AROMA 2/10   APPEARANCE 2/5   TASTE 5/10   PALATE 2/5   OVERALL 8/20
exadore (92) - Sacramento, California, USA - FEB 17, 2008
Bottle. Poured the same boring color most of their other brews did, same two finger white head, too. Smells like vomit tastes. Tastes okay, maybe medium to light bodied beer. Not worth revisiting. Leave this to housewives buying this for their respective husbands come Christmas time.

wombat23 (1839) - Texas, USA - NOV 16, 2017
Bottle. Pours clear amber with an off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt and earth. Taste is caramel, sweet malts, earth, grass, metallic notes, minimal fruitiness. Bland. Wouldn't purchase again.

nybol (2434) - DENMARK - JUL 10, 2017
En svag smag af noget tørt, evt træ. Sødlig og let spritet. God øl! Humle er der ikke meget af,.

nealblind (1979) - Seattle, Alabama, USA - FEB 28, 2017
amber gold brown. some soapy bubbles. aroma toffee, bread pudding, slight herby hops. Tastes tobacco, mild, bitter wood. satisfyingly british, but sorta watery.

zacgillbanks (5548) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - JAN 13, 2017
Bottle from Booth’s, Ripon. An amber beer with a burnt toffee and citrus flavour followed by peppery hops and spice on the warming finish. Very good.

simontomlinson (632) - Blackburn, Lancashire, ENGLAND - DEC 27, 2016
White frothy head stayed well on a finely carbonated golden head.
Malt & spice aroma
Medium smooth body.
Spicy, bitter, stewed fruit & a long tangy on the back.
Decent Festive Beer

Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - DEC 20, 2016
Treated as a winter warmer and poured into a mug, the appearance was a ruddy golden burnt orange almost light brown color with a decent transparency about it. Head dissipated immediately leaving a nicely speckled lace claiming the glass.
The aroma takes on a big sweet malty stickiness. Some mineral water, and grassy sweet fuggles hops come across. I swear that’s got to be fuggles hops in it.
The flavor yields to the malty sweetness and lets in the fuggles hops smooth and clean soapiness. Biscuity sweet with a touch of toffee and light milk chocolate. Malty rich toffee aftertaste. Sticky wet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Mild carbonation yields to a very smooth and practically sticky body.
Overall, well, as a winter warmer, it’s quite lacking in that department as far as some winter spices that could "beef" it up to a better quality of the style. Ratebeer says English Strong ale, so if some nuttiness or even some earthiness could help maybe it could be a better beer all around, but I can’t give this high marks.

rubbishystuff (2537) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 28, 2016
From World Market. Minerally more malty ale. Slightly bitter finish, OK. Serving: Bottle

hman43 (1821) - Pinehurst, North Carolina, USA - NOV 26, 2016
Pours dark gold with a slightly off white head. There are some earthly aromas with alcohol, and slight fruit. There are earthly flavors with alcohol and slight cherry and sugar. It is rather heavy and thick with minimal bitterness in the finish. Overall, an interesting beer with the earthly flavors dominating and the sweetness of fruit is in the background.

altonbrownd (5897) - Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA - MAY 14, 2016
Bottle from Chevy Chase Wine and Liquors. Sure, a bit late for Christmas beer. But enjoyable nonetheless. Copper body with large head. Nose is floral, malty. Taste fruits, spices. Creamy texture. Good finish.

Zymurgeist2 (2386) - Redwood City, California, USA - JAN 1, 2016
Bottle to tulip glass. Alcohol and grainy malt. Moderate floral aroma. Clear honeycomb and full white head that leaves quickly. Taste us a little oxidized.
