COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

ruigo (3088) - PORTUGAL - DEC 17, 2014
33cl. Hazy orange colour with a small white head. Malt, caramel, overripe fruits and light pine. Average carbonation and medium to light body. Taste is more on the sweet side and not well balanced with its bitterness. Overall, a nice beer but too sweet.

Bottle [from Euro Swap 7 thanks to Sebilinz] @ home. Hazy orange color, medium sized white to off-white head that diminishes quite quickly. Aroma is malts, hops but a bit old it seems, some overripe fruits. Tastes about the same: malts, lightly some hops, overripe fruits, slightly floral, only slightly bitter. Average body and carbonation.

BOTTLE 33 CL BB 06-FEB-2015. Look: almost clear copper with lots of yeast flakes, light tan head. Aroma: subdued hop character, sweet citrus, orange with lots of caramel, a touch of pine too. Taste: caramel sweetness with light but very peppery or even phenolic bitterness.

aronvarga (441) - Budapest, HUNGARY - AUG 17, 2014
330 ml bottle. Cloudy with small trub particles, medium amber color, short-life small sized solid off-white head, slight grapefruit aroma, medium body, soft carbonation, sweet biscuit malty and dry piney hoppy palate with resinous notes. Not bad, but too sweet for an IPA in my opinion.

2.3
GoufCustom (2133) - HONG KONG - JUN 9, 2014

330 ml bottle bought at Fürstenberg in Tai Hang, Causeway Bay.

Cloudy hazy amber honey colour with no yeast sediments; One-quarter finger head and soapy off-white foam which fades in 20 seconds; Small sticky lacing and minimal carbonation; Fragrant, very sweet aroma of ale malt, with grapefruit essence, apricots, light peach, floral nectar, syrup, light pine, resin, light lemon and grassy hops; Close to strong sweet taste of light ale malt, with very light grapefruit, flower, thick molasses, pine, resin, light biscuits, lime, grass and moderate bitter hops; Medium body. Thick, oozy and oily palate; Mouth feel is light Ale maltyness, not very rich but in a thick and oily body. Stingy use of hops results in just citrus essence, neither fleshy nor zesty. Sweetness is more agreeable to the tongue than its syrupy nose, but you can’t help to think such amount of sugar is reserved for IIPA rather than this. Adequate pine, oozy but low resins, light yeast and not much else. Kinda groomy and empty… Hoppiness is citrus and yellow fruit essence, floral nectar and light pine nose, low fruity / piney and light lime taste. Bitterness is rather low-fi for an IPA, with moderate to low hoppy light bitterness for sweet-bitter finish; Slightly dry after taste. Sweet, thick and lightly bitter to mouth.

Comments: Well maybe the brewery is new to IPA style like other reviews said, and I would love to be kind if this is their first time in making one, but the fact is that it’s an unbalanced brew - IIPA-like thick sweetness being nakedly exposed by thin malts and Stoogey hops. Such defects need to be followed up before it can be anywhere close to decent. Nice try, though.

Cunningham (8282) - Halden, NORWAY - APR 6, 2014
Appearance: Unclear deep golden color with a fine thick tan head that leaves a nice lacing.
Aroma: Rich malty, mild grapefruit hoppy and mild fruity.
Palate: Medium body. Slightly sweet and a fine bitterness. Average carbonation. Oily texture.
Taste: Sweet malty, biscuit, fruity and mild grapefruit hoppy.
Overall impression: My first Austrian IPA from a bottle. Ok, but they have to work a little bit more to get it right. To much sweet malty.
Personal stats: Bottle from Pål

KimJohansen (10497) - Frederiksberg C, DENMARK - JAN 27, 2014
Cloudy amber with a medium sized white head. Aroma had pine needles and grape. Flavor was fruity with hints of peach, grape, herbs and pine needles. Dry and bitter finish.

3.3
Saeglopur (2297) - Vienna Woods, AUSTRIA - JAN 4, 2014
Bottle from Kalea Bierkalender. Deep amber, hazy body with medium, frothy, white head, that won’t last very long and leaves some lacing. Aroma of citrus, honey, malt, grass, flowers. Taste of citrus, candy, honey, grass, herbs. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate bitter/sweet citric finish. Not bad, but a bit weird, with the malt and the aroma hops not very well balanced, almost no hop bite and a bit too much sweetness instead. You get a hint that this traditional brewery is new to beer styles like this.

3.1
Geiserich (4578) - Linz, AUSTRIA - DEC 29, 2013
Bottle: Hazy amber color, off-white head. Flavor is malty with honey notes, tropical fruits, resin, lemon peel, citrus hops. Unharmonic.
