COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Oh no. Another boring beer. Sweet flavour with a sharp note. Somewhat malty. Watery and weak finish and aftertaste. Boring and bad. Nothing more.

Draught at Deep Ellum, 8/19/17.
Clear, bright, sunflower yellow with deep bronze tints and a medium-sized white head showing moderate to moderately-low retention.
Lightlly floral hops mix with sparse, crackery malts and a touch of salinity. Some sourdough bread-like character is apparent and appreciated, but the beer already seems "dry" enough from the nose so I'm not sure what it really adds.
Soft, maybe a bit too much so, with vague floral hops adding a touch of fruitiness as well. Light honey, lots of white bread and light sourdough. Kind of feels sterile/lifeless and the malts are very lackluster, and it finishes thin.

I found this bottle at Amstein, St-Légier. I drank it yesterday before our beef tartare that I love to prepare at home in Lausanne. In my point of view, it is a classical beverage, on the Bavarian soil, a typical helles, similar that some breweries in the region. Firstly, the body is yellow/gold, regular carbonation, thin and white foam. The taste is malty, bready, touch of honey, typical German hop "saaz or hallertau" coming at the end of the sip, a bit watery and well balanced during the taste, a good one without any doubt with a good Schwein Cordon bleu.

Radiant yellow. Tight white collar of foam. Pleasant aroma of toasted hay, crackers, honeysuckle, lemon, and paper. Underlying DMS (cauliflower), sulfur, and metal shavings. Soft carbonic prickles. Softly malty, initially, with fluffy white bread interwoven with lusher haylike notes. Scratchy minerals are proceeded by a nuanced floral-herbal characteristic which is slightly marred by a tinge of concrete. Minor, but unobtrusive, DMS comes as quickly as it goes, and a delicate trail of flower petals is left in its wake. Quite lean all around, with some stiff toast firming things up as well. Dry and balanced finish of flowery Hallertau capped with lightly toasty pils malt and white bread. A rather straightforward Helles lager, but at least it’s mostly clean. No huskiness or fusels and the DMS is hardly noticeable. More hop expressiveness would elevate this considerably. A fairly decent quaffer, but not very memorable.

UPDATED: SEP 12, 2017 500 ml bottle. Pours clear golden, with big but quick disappearing head. Grainy, a bit citrus, some floral notes. Medium bitterness, with a light grainy sweetness. Light bodied, soft carbonated. Could have been a bit crisper. Okay Export.

Bottle thanks to Johannes. Pours crystal clear yellow gold with a thin white head. Aromas of grassy hops and light corn and malt. Taste is just like Augustiner Helles used to be, before they overstretched themselves. Banging helles. Simple, drinkable. The sun was shining and I was very happy.

Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - Apalachee - 11.2 oz bottle. Good solid Helles, light golden appearance, light snow white head - light lacing. Sweet, candy like aroma, very pleasant. Flavor has elements of mown grass, bread and sour apples. Goes down smoooth. Refreshing.
