Draft sample at Right Brain. Poured clear dark brown color with an average fizzy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate spicy roasted chocolate malty aroma. Medium body with a dry smooth texture. Medium roasted dark chocolate flavor with medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Solid complex beer.

Tap at MBG Summer Festival. Poured black with a light brown head. Aroma consisted of sweet chocolate with a mocha note as well, did not pick up much of a chili aroma. Flavor definitely brought out the dutch chocolate but again the chili flavor was lacking. Not bad, but would like to see the chili incorporated more.

UPDATED: AUG 27, 2010 Draft RBSG/MBGSF 2010 Pours cloudy and dark brown with a huge, frothy, beige head. Great retention. The aroma provides a boatload of chocolate and a ration of vanilla no pepper. Medium-bodied and watery with lively carbonation. The flavor presents semi-sweet chocolate and lots of heat from the pepper that carries over into the spicy, throat and belly warming finish. Not the least bit refreshing, but very interesting and quite enjoyable.

MiBG Summer Fest 2009, Friday Session: Deep reddish brown hue with a lasting frothy head. The aroma has notes of powered chocolate and coffee, grassy hops, very light spice, sassafras, wheat and nuts. The taste is very straight forward with walnut and chocolate with very minimal spice. Some smoke, coffee and hop notes upon the finish. The mouth feel is lively and sharp. Overall a disappointing offering, I was looking forward to trying this.

Sweet and hugely chocolatey nose. Peppery chile notes underneath, but play a compliment to the chocolate for sure! Nice nose. Dark brown pour, no head, almost still looking. Chocolate and ancho chiles. Wow they got what they were looking for here. Sweet and chocolatey but dry and medium vegetal hot/spicy. Light bodied, carb is soft.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a small dark tan head. Aroma of chocolate and spices. Flavor of chocolate and roasted malt up front with a spicy finish that keeps on coming in the mouth. Certainly a lot of chili pepper flavor in this one! I give this an A for effort, but a B for final product because it was a little too spicy for me that it really dominated the beer. 6/4/7/3/14 [3.4/5]

Very fruity pepper nose with lots of roast and light smoke. Taste is lightly sweet, lots of peppers, good lasting heat, some chocolate in the middle. Excellent chili beer with solid and lasting heat.

RBSG 2010 - MBF Great way to start the event. The beer is near black, light brown cap, straight forward aroma, good chocolate, light pepper, biscuit, a bit weak. taste: Ahhh! Lots of heat and lots of pepper - more than i wanted or expected, hot pepper roast burn, sweet, decent chocolate, more roast, oh fuck its hot .. hot and its plus a million out here and 10000% humidity as well. This is a hot mess.

Growler; thanks to deyholla for the trade; dense black, thin and mostly flat; vegi, peppery aromas with sweet chocolate; mild pepper burn going down in the back of my throat; soft chocolate but body and carbonation suffering a bit and not allowing the chocolate to smooth out the peppers enough for me; has that too much pepper flavor like the Hunapoopoo and doesnt really work for me at all; oh well
