Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a sniffer.
The appearance had a dark brown close to black color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated within about less than a minute. Light lacing pervaded all about.
The smell was extremely sweet and chocolate/possibly even a milky like sweet sort of way. There’s even a light roasty coffee really underneath.
The taste was chocolate sweet but still with a nice overall roastiness of the meal all about.
On the palate, this one sat right at a medium in body with a decent sessionable aspect about it. The carbonation was fairly subdued and the beer came across fairly smooth and creamy.
Overall, what a really nice sweet stout well worthy of having again. There wasn’t any bourbon flavoring found in the bottle but this was good for the most part. kp (10882) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - DEC 25, 2011

RBSG 2010 - MBF. Gots a dark brown beer with no cap. Ok aroma but nothing like the beers on the bus on the way here. Chocolate, vanilla, oak and roasted malts that aren’t too strong and bourbon. The flavour is pretty much the same with medium strength chocolate, vanilla, bourbon and a tinge of fruit. Smooth but not velvety. Good but should be better. hellbilly (3249) - scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA - JUN 28, 2011
at nick’s on 8/4/10.
pale walnut brown... rootbeer color with an off white head.
it smells like bourbon-y banana nut bread... along with clove, vanilla, roast, chocolate, wood and coconut.
there’s a lot of chocolate to the flavor with lesser notes of the aforementioned aroma.
the mouth feel is lux and super creamy. 8/3/8/4/16/3.9 SuperDave (1932) - Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA - JAN 15, 2011
Dark brown pour with a foamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, light bourbon, coffee and vanilla. Flavor is smooth and roasty, with all of the aromas included. Very nice.

Cola and chocolate nose along with some light bourbon notes. The taste is moderately sweet, with lots of milk chocolate, light bourbon, some coconut. Just didn’t do much for me. Meh. pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 23, 2010
Distill my heart. full pour at Right Brain, Traverse City.. Pours a darker cola pour with lighter reddish
brown edges. Quickly dissipating light beige head on top... Aroma of
bourbon and apple notes with a bit of vanilla
And choco undertones on the backside... Flavors are light bourbon,
fruity with apple, and a smudge of roasted malt and chocolate. Thin
bodied. Barrel lenses too many apple notes.

UPDATED: AUG 27, 2010 Draft… RBSG/MBGSF 2010… Murky, dark brown ale with a small, off-white head. The bouquet offers chocolate and vanilla with hints of cola, bourbon and oak. Medium-bodied with limp carbonation. The flavor presents dark chocolate, plus some bourbon, vanilla and a little oak. Neither hot nor overdone. Nice, chocolaty, sweet finish. Enjoyable. dionysus (1486) - Portland, Oregon, USA - AUG 22, 2010
Bottle pours deep brown with a khaki head. Aroma is rich with bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, molasses, oak, and licorice. Flavor shows the same. Overall body is moderate to full, slick, and moderately sweet. holdenn (2116) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 20, 2010
Sampled at MBGSF. Pours a brown black with no head. Nose of bourbon and chocolate malt. Simple chocolate roast flavors sweet with bourbon. Not bad but a sample of this is about all I can take. Sweet chocolate bourbon gets old. 7/3/6/3/12
