Review from notes:
A - Hazy light brown with big bubbled head. Low retention with minimal lacing.
S - Sweet woody malts, sugary fruit, apples, caramel, muddled whiskey aroma.
T - Starts off with sweet caramel malts, slightly toasted, very fruity, mainly apples, woody tannins, there’s earthy/spicy bitterness but it’s hard to detect the source. There’s notes of mild earthy hops underneath the rounded nutty malts. Finishes semi-dry with notes of fruit and toasted wood.
M - Medium weight with active carbonation that mellows out as it sits. Woody tannins are left on the aftertaste.
Interesting brew. The malts and fruit combined with the wood create a complex mix of flavors that seem uncommon.

From a bomber into a snifter. Big tan head that lingers, semi clear reddish brown body. Nose is whisky, apple cider caramel malt, hint of cherries. Medium body, sweet, alcohol burn. Finish has nutty woody flavors. A bit too boozy, but nice. hayduke (5619) - Eureka, California, USA - APR 10, 2016
Sampled at GABF 2015. In the tasting glass was amber with a white head. Nose of citrus and floral hops and a blast of whiskey. Medium body. Flavor is bit on the whiskey and the finish is boozy and bitter. Damn good. SG111 (1980) - New York, USA - MAR 18, 2016

tap at the brewery - Smells of oak and to my surprise kind of tart, but it doesn’t taste tart. Whiskey dominates the sweet, malty flavor and there’s a hint of vanilla. It’s medium to full bodied and very good.

UPDATED: OCT 24, 2014 Sample at GABF 10/03/2014, thanks to my sis for assistance with note-taking. Hazy amber color with a medium thin off-white head. Spotty lacing. Malt, caramel and slight hops in the nose. Medium body with flavors of grainy malt, caramel and mild hops. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.
