On tap at the brewpub. Yellow/ gold pour with a white head. Mildly hoppy with a lighter malt backbone. A pleasant drinking IPA. zubblwump (111) - Michigan, USA - NOV 4, 2016
On tap at the brewery. Slightly orange tinted amber. I didn’t get much aroma. Taste is strong hops, pine. Decent IPA, but I like the Dead Kettle sitting next to it more. gregwilsonstl (2574) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - JUL 28, 2016
Pine sol! Pine bomb. Lemon. Accentuates the simcoe well. Crisp. Thx Erin! patrick767 (4063) - fort wayne, Indiana, USA - SEP 20, 2015
tap at the brewery - This brew smells mainly of citrus accented hops. It has a good, crisp bitter flavor with citrus and pine. Medium to full bodied, it has a long, hoppy finish. Very good. TheBear11D (365) - Michigan, USA - JAN 10, 2015
The Spiny Norman pours a mostly clear golden yellow with a decent ivory head that lasts a while. The aroma is very hop heavy with pine being the most prominent but both floral and citrus along with bit of honey. The flavor is pine and citrus initially then a bit of honey with floral hops. Overall this is a pretty solid brew. Very hop heavy, but I like that kind of thing.

Very good. More classic West Coast style. Little malt backbone. Strong grapefruit and to a lesser extent pine hop notes. Not resiny. Light mouthfeel. Adequate bitterness -- not a hop bomb. fakebeersnob (325) - Salt Lake City, Utah, USA - JUL 10, 2014
Pours copper with a fluffy offwhite head that lingers ....well, it is still there and I am halfway done. First drink made me surprised at how malty it was. I think I am used to more imperials lately. As I drank more, I appreciated it. There is some citrus, some pine, solid malt to it, but leaves a pleasant bitterness on the tip of tongue and back of throat. Slightly sticky mouthfeel (even with that bitter tongue tip). Very enjoyable. jtw (1165) - farmington, Michigan, USA - JUN 1, 2014
bought this bomber before i realized it was dated 9 months ago. however, it still has a nice hops kick although probably not as sharp as it would be in its prime. it’s medium bodied with a solid pale malt background and the hops are typical of simcoe - citrus, pine, grass, lavender. nice brew and the name is cool. peteinSD (1469) - San Diego, California, USA - MAY 6, 2014
Bottle extraed from Mike (bottled October ’13). Clear copper pour with a white head. Light bitterness and grain in the aroma. Bitterness and spots of pine with some chewy malt in the taste. Lightly coating mouthfeel. Pretty solid actually for a 7 month old IPA. AcctError96987 (3722) - Washington DC, USA - MAY 1, 2014
Fresh bottle brought back from the source by Adam. Thanks mang!
The beer is orange with two fingers of head. Aromas of hops and pine amidst bread, cracker, malt scents. Decent flavor. The hops don’t pop out as much as I’d like for the style. Mild bready sweetness with some grapefruit and misc. citrus. Medium bodied with light bitterness. This was alright.
