1.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20
Clear chestnut pour with a 3 finger creamy, fading to 1 finger chunky tan head then nothing after a few sips. Aroma is chocolate, toast, banana, Band-Aid and light toasty wheat and caramel. Flavor is chocolate, roast, Band-Aid, metal and an odd lactic-acid-like tartness. Light bodied with an astringent and acidic feel and small bubbled, blanketing and incredibly sharp and unpleasant carbonation. Rather unpleasant for the most part, the aroma wasn’t terrible. With all of the off attributes this beer has, I think there’s a good chance it’s infected.
The appearance is black with a fizzy thin head that dies out fast. The aroma is light plum and sweet chocolate. On the taste, the body is very light with traces of chocolate and plum with a mild touch of coffee roast. IrishBoy (4210) - Bakersfield, California, USA - JAN 12, 2016
Bomber from Paul?s Liquors, Cayucos. Nose is light banana, baby cereal, with a very slight bit of bubblegum and grainy wheat. Dark brown with a medium beige head. Flavor is moderately sweet cream of wheat cereal. CanIHave4Beers (4187) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - MAR 3, 2014
Pours a dark brown with a respectable head. jmohno (1628) - Iowa, USA - AUG 18, 2013
The aroma has some chocolate & spice... the banana is faint. It’s defiantly got a weird sulphur character & some odd funkiness.
The flavor is straight up tart with some mild chocolate... spicy & a touch sweet... all out of balance, sour & weird. I’ll say that the sourness is a lemony non acetic sourness, so that’s more pleasant than I suppose it could be, but gracious everything else about the beer sort of throws the whole thing off.
Dark, clear with slight red/brown hue. Quick fizzled short head.
Belgiany aromas with tart berry.Leather. Some sour oak.
Tart berry taste with slight chocolate/roast. Almost sour, woody. Some citrus. Wasnt expecting this for a dunkel. Not bad but seems to belong to another style. Apparantly I got a funky bottle as its nothing as described from below.

Interestingly, this has more coffee to the aroma than chocolate. The flavor is pretty sweet, with plenty of chocolate. The wheat isn’t too much, but it has the same sugar strain as the honey blonde I didn’t like. It’s okay. Interestingly, everyone so far has scored this exactly the same. Wood, musk, caramel nose. Very dark and hazy with orange highlights. Cola, toffee and dark malt in palate. Thanks for sharing Ron! mrhoppy (1288) - Santa Clara, California, USA - FEB 14, 2013
Big dark wheat nose. A little to thin and overly carbonated. Very good flavor. For the price it is reasonable. Overall quality compaired to German beers it isn’t quite up to the challenge. By the you finish your satsified. joeneugs (6371) - Livermore, California, USA - JAN 22, 2013
22 oz. bottle from Grocery Outlet. It pours dark brown with a fizzy khaki head that disappears rather quickly. Very dark for the style. The aroma is intense with sweet coffee, roasted malt and caramel. More of a stout aroma than anything else. The flavor is very roasted with prickly carbonation and more coffee and caramel. The body is pretty light for the ABV and there is virtually no German yeast character here. Tasty and well brewed, just not a dunkelweizen. I can’t say I’m disappointed, as I really enjoyed this for what it is. Another pleasant surprise from this brewery!
