Draft at Brew Kettle Tap Lockout. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted chocolate nutty malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium toasted sweet flavor with a medium toasted sweet finish of moderate duration. The beer also went well with my spicy hot dog.

Sample at the Brew Kettle on 3/24/12. Clear reddish brown color with a medium tan head. Malty nose with grassy hop notes and some nuttiness. Caramel malt flavor with nuts and a bit of roast in the finish. xnoxhatex (1305) - Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA - JUL 13, 2009
Bomber as extra in trade. Dark brown with red tint and large, billowing, tan head. Aroma is sweeter chocolate, nuttiness, a little dough and some fruit. Flavor is sweeter red and purple fruit, a little nuttiness, some caramel, chocolate, cocoa powder, a little mettalic, nice. Medium to full, creamy body with active carbonation. Tasty nuttiness with heavy chocolate, pretty great for a brown ale. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 25, 2008
On tap at the Brew Kettle. Poured clear medium amber with a short cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up toasty caramel and nutty notes with rising chocolate as it warmed up.. quite sweet. The flavor had caramel and chocolate at the base with earthy and cocoa bitterness surrounding.. if you wait for it, a sizeable dose of pine bitterness emerges at the back and works very well. High carbonation on the palate with a sweet base and decent balance against the bitterness on the sides.. OK flow.. crisp, refreshing finish. rudolf (2360) - Buffalo, New York, USA - MAR 8, 2008
Bottle via homebrew swap. Thanks! Body is ruby ruby, tan head with minimal lacing. Nose is roasty brown malt, some caramelized sugar, light plastic. Flavor is nutty brown malt, dry toffee, more of that plastic. Some coffee comes through in the end along with balancing hops & some rich fruits.

Thanks to Crizay! Nutty, roasted malts in the aroma, with hints of coffee and vanilla. Pours medium to dark brown with a thin white head. Very good flavor, alittle nutty with some chocolate notes, with some caramel in the background. adrian910ss (2589) - Doylestown, PA, USA - JAN 11, 2008
22 oz bomber. Pours a dark semi clear amber with a medium sized frosty beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, cola and nuts. Taste of roasted malts, nuts, caramel/toffee with a faint chocolate presence. Not bad. shigadeyo (3761) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 12, 2007
10/30/2007: Chestnut Brown Ale pous a dark brown color, is clear, and has a lasting dense and foamy head. The aroma and flavor are actually pretty rich with chocolate, caraelized sugar, and slightly roasted malt and nut flavors. The overall level of sweetness is just right for my taste as far as Brown Ales go. This beer has a medium to medium-full body and is pretty smooth and creamy on the palate. This is one of those nice, easy to drink beers that one could enjoy pint after pint of...Cletus (6355) - Connecticut, USA - NOV 5, 2007
16 oz draught at The Brew Kettle in Strongsville, Ohio. Rating #14 for this beer.
Bomber courtesy of crizay. Pours brown with a thin white head. Smells of spice, caramel, roses, some chocolate. Tastes of chocolate, some earthy hints, tea, touches of underlying bitterness. Mouthfeel is a bit watery. Finish is semi-sweet. sliffy (2040) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - OCT 12, 2006
Draft @ brewkettle: Murky brown color with a light tan head. Aroma, roasty notes with some caramel and molassas. Flavor, chestnuts, toasty, brown sugar, and roasty malts. Really quite nice, I would almost call it a porter for how malty it is. Really was my favorite beer of theirs that I had.
