Pours very clear dark amber with tan head. Sweet malt, caramel, biscuit aroma. Very smooth and well balanced. Is this the best christmas beer?

2014 version> Pours a very dark, almost black amber with a tan head. Aroma is sweet, vanilla and marsipan. Tast is complex and balanced, sweet with marsipan. one of the best christmas beers again. Hallstein (483) - Skogn, NORWAY - SEP 15, 2014
Was lucky enough to taste a 2002 bottle of this lovely brew. It’s not beer at all. Reminds me a lot more about port wine or good sherry. Loads of dark fruits, sweetness and christmas spices as anise, cinnamon, allspice etc. Carbonation is still present, but the beer is incredibly smooth, and the alcohol cannot be tasted what so ever. Delicious brew! (The most smooth beer i’ve ever tasted, hands down.) Holmen2 (3637) - NORWAY - MAR 11, 2014
Dark brown qith a hint of ruby. Good beige head. Aroma of prunes, raisins, dark caramel and port. Similar taste and full mouthfeel, Liquorice. Soft caronation. An absolutely wonderful Doppelbock! tmrmwel (2089) - Bergen, NORWAY - JAN 2, 2014
Pours dark brown with a small head. Aroma is roasted malts and grain. Not overly complex, but still quite nice. Full body with soft carbonation. Flavour is sweet with chocolate malts, dark fruits, notes of anise as well as some alcohol that ends in a long sweetly finish.

Flott mørk rød/brun farge, lukter karamell, malt, alkohol og kaffe. Flott skumlag, medium kullsyre og fylde. Lang og god ettersmak. Gorm (1899) - Sandnes, NORWAY - DEC 19, 2013

Fin duft av malt, karamell og lakris. Fin mørk kastanjebrun farge. Lite skum, litt langs kant. Fin smak av karamell. ERB92 (739) - Bergen, NORWAY - DEC 13, 2013
Dried fruits, syrup and coffee. Almost black with a red tint, small disappearing off white head. Medium to heavy sweetness with a light bitterness. Medium body with average carbonation. Overall a really enjoyable beer, surprisingly good for a Ringnes brew. bjerkeaa (180) - NORWAY - DEC 13, 2013
Very dark red brown pour, with a small tan head. Definite caramel malts, some coffee and some spices in the aroma. Thin mouthfeel, somewhat disappointingly low bitterness.
