Bottle broke when I opened it. Pours black with a tanned head. Aroma of licorice, dark caramel, some roasty coffee. Sweet taste, nice mouthfeel. For me, it’s a nice beer, but the aromas don’t combine as well. Fin (10699) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 5, 2012
Bottle very kindly passed on by Rune & Finn, at Kernel Brewery November 2012. Cheers Rune & Finn. I decided to retire from rating back in October 2012, however will occasionally rate when people have been kind enough to pass on beer or if I just fancy it. Consumed Wednesday 5th December 2012 Great Doppelbock, full flavoured in mouth and with lots of burnt toffee and whilst quite sweet it isn’t cloying, in fact I really like the sweetness, I really like the beer. A touch sticky, it as a pleasant softness in the mouth, very indulgent, some chocolate and milky coffee also starting to combine. The flavours really, really last, dark sticky fruits and despite the strength the alcohol is very well hidden. A cracking Christmas beer, big thanks to Rune and Finn for this beer.

Bottle. Deep dark brown body, beige head. Thick. Aroma of caramel, light roast, tar. Taste of dark fruit, chocolate, spices. Warm finish. Please Ringnes, more beers like this, and less of the "randomsupername pils" pale lagers you flood the maarket with!! Bathory (458) - Kverneland, NORWAY - JUL 17, 2012
Had to buy this one because all the christmas-beers from Nøgne Ø, Haandbryggeriet, Ægir and Kinn was sold out before christmas, but this one was not a bad one either. Aroma is very much coffee and roasted malts. Taste is much of the same, but with hints of barnyard, chocolate and some licorice. The one thing that’s bad here, is that the alcohol is too notable. Would get a better score with some better balance, but after all, this is a well above avarage beer. Maybe the best Ringnes has ever produced. JohnRMurdoch (4982) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - JUN 23, 2012
330ml bottle courtesy of Rune. Dark brown colour, oily texture not much head. Strong alcohol malt aroma & flavour. smooth sweet & well balanced. Not normally my type of beer but this is ok. mr_h (5718) - Ayr, SCOTLAND - JUN 23, 2012
330ml bottle courtesy of Rune (the bottle has the ABV as 9.0%) - clear dark red / brown ale, non-existent white head, roasted malt and alcohol aroma, sweet caramel malt flavour, moderate carbonation, rather nice Oysteib (112) - NORWAY - JAN 6, 2012
Clear, dark red-brown. Good sweetness that is not overpowering, with dark malt and cocoa character. Moderate alcohol taste for this alcohol volume. A thoroughly pleasant christmas beer experience.
