Very dark brown color on the beer, almost black. Beautiful light brown foam. Pleasant to taste, although the hops is relatively moderate. Foffern (1879) - Bodø, NORWAY - DEC 31, 2011
Bottle at home. 1 year old. Deep golden redbrown with a big frothy beige head. Aromas of dark chocolate, roasted malt and some alcohol. More roast in the mouth, towards smoke, along with leather and some dried fruit. Hints of alcohol. Medium bitterness and light to medium carbonation. Medium+ body and creamy mouthfeel. Overall a round and nice christmas beer. Well-balanced with a pleasant fullness in the mouth. A beer cellar classic. tfredvik (1941) - Oslo, NORWAY - DEC 16, 2011
Dark brown body, with a large, brown head. Although the head shrinks to a thin layer with some additional build-up at the walls rather quickly, it laces the glass very well. Lovely sweet malty aroma with hoppy hints! Dark fruits, plum, black currant, port wine, spices and alcohol. Yes! This is some seriously sweet stuff, but a moderate bitterness in the finish prevents the beer from feeling too sweet. Roasted flavours, with more dark fruits, port wine and alcohol (especially in the finish), some caramel, faint coffee and black currants. Marvellous vinous mouthfeel with a medium to full body, oily texture and soft carbonation. A very nice beer!

[33 cl bottle, from Vinmonopolet Alna, Oslo]
Dark brown, aroma of warm caramel, some fruity hops, and bit alcahol, taste of more caramel, the alcohol shines throue the malt sweetnes. Overall a good beer. Palme (4811) - Bergen, NORWAY - DEC 6, 2011
0.33l bottle. A clear deep brownish beer with a small quickly fading bubbly and sidesticking off-white head. The aroma is light burned with lots of caramel and some licorice. Average carbo levels and a slick to oily mouthfeel. Spicy pepperish flavors mixed with malty sweetness and some alcohol tones in the background. Surprisingly balanced and ends with a sticky licorice aftertaste. Quite good this puppy.

Pours very dark, almost black in glass, thick tanned head. Smells mostly of roasted malts and caramel, also tiny hints of wet dog. Pretty one dimentional aroma. Taste is super malty, tons of sweetness. Oily palate. Nice bitter finish.

Dark brown, almost black, body with a thin beige head. Aroma of mocca, roasted malt, caramel, licorice and coffee. Good stuff! Sweet taste with a spicy aftertaste. The alcohol is well integrated in the taste. A very good juleøl! ABS (1065) - Stokke, NORWAY - NOV 4, 2011
Pours almost black. Very "full" taste and aroma. Quite similar to a traditional, home-made "tomtebrygg". Good, but not that much character. berlinoise2go (689) - NORWAY - DEC 24, 2010
Bottle (33cl), 2009 edition. Clear, dark brown colour. Offwhite, finger-thick head. Aroma of roasted malt and sweet, dried dark fruits (fig, raisin). Medium/full body. Well-balanced with some hop bitterness.
