Time for another wallowing through the mire of Norwegian commercial lagers. This time it’s Ringnes Skjærgårdspils to put it’s head on the chopping block. Oh well, sometimes these beers surprise me. Pours a standard fizzy pale lager body with a quickly disapperaring foamy white head. Smell is sweet malts and cooked vegetables. Taste is sweet malts with a slight hop sting in the very beginning, then fading out to veggies and hints of wet cardboard again. What is that? Such a strange flavor to actually enhance in a beer. Oh well, it’s not quite as horrible as many of the other Norwegian commercial summer seasonals (like Hansa Sommerøl, for example: www.ratebeer.com/beer/hansa-sommerol/11148/92005/& No home run for this one either, though.
