It had a light orange appearance with good head that didn't last long. It had a fruit taste that wasn't in your face. It finished dry and hoppy. Walt (2449) - Austin, Texas, USA - SEP 9, 2004
Poured amber with thin off white head...smelled caramel first, fading into cherry Robitussin...taste was a little better, caramel, grass, earwax...finish syrupy thick... madsberg (11776) - Søborg, DENMARK - SEP 12, 2004
Bottled: Golden coloured. Off white medium head. Sweet and light hoppy aroma with fruitnotes. Flavour is grassy and somewhat artificial. Ends up in a medium bitterness. Is dry. bruno1378 (126) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - JUN 14, 2006
Pours a nice amber with a thick head. Very weak aroma, and very weak tasting as well. Bit of a piney aftertaste. Not bad, just seems a bit weak overall. morrdt (715) - Jacksonville, Florida, USA - MAR 3, 2007
Bottle from Total Wine, notched best before April 2007. Pours a copper color with a light white fluffy head. Aroma is next to non-existent. Taste is caramel and a bit of hops to chase it. Lives up to the bitter billing, but there is nothing "extra special" about this beer. Meh.

Bottle: Poured a medium brown color ale with an average size head with average retention. Aroma of light caramel malt with a weird yeasty flavour which kind of clash with the malt. Taste is mostly dominated by semi-weak malt with some weird yeast finish which doesn’t really fits well. I wasn’t too fond of this one but it seems to be a recurring theme with my taste buds and Shipyard yeast. smjohnst (203) - , Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 2, 2008
This beer almost has a wine type of thiness to it. It didn’t taste especially bitter like it says it does. Just had an awkward flavor to it. jetzler (622) - oklahoma city, Oklahoma, USA - SEP 19, 2008
Bottle, Pours a red/gold color with tan head, light aroma some malts and some hops but faint. Yeast character, fairly english in style more like old speckled hen rather than like fullers. Its fine the nothing special but not bad quite english in profile. ElGaucho56 (394) - USA - OCT 21, 2008
Pours a pale yellow with the faintest hint of orange and a non-existent head. Not much going for this one, in any area: nose is mostly of bland hops with the faintest tint of coppery malts; body is water-thin; finish is quite dry and metallic, with little malt character to prop the beer up. Just kind of bland, unfortunately. Beerlando (3343) - Orlando, Florida, USA - DEC 7, 2008
Cask at Redlight Redlight. Pours clear, dark amber in color. A spongy, off-white head shows decent retention, wavy flares and small spots of lacing marking the glass. The aroma is about as mundane as can be, toasty, sweet biscuit notes countered with an almost undetectable hint of floral hops. Flavors go down that same misguided path, overly sweet for the style, too biscuity, and under hopped. There is even an unfortunate metallic overtone that muddies the waters even more. The palate is basically like sugar water, smooth but too sweet, and under-carbonated. This brew has few redeeming qualities.
