Small white head. Clear brown body with carbonation. Faint papery aroma. Sweetish-dryish spicy mealy papery taste with faint background acidity. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish fruity caramelly aftertaste with dusty notes. Acidity is very faint. It’s ok, but not very remarkable. (0.5l draft at Alynas, Vilnius.) In short: A bland sweet fruity dark golden ale. Not much happening here.FatPhil (16631) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - MAY 7, 2012
How: Flip-top 1L bottle shared at Šnekutis Old Town Vilnius, Lithuania
The look: Clear dark golden body topped by a small off-white head
In long: Nose has some nail polish, phenols and ripe citrus and darker fruits. Taste is smoother than the nose and, oily cereals, very fruity (sweet apricots and sweet dark fruits), a bit of caramel. Moderately carbonated. Nose was a bit of a turn-off but at the end it was just a bland sweet fruity beer. My last beer at the lively Šnekutis Old Town (sister bar of Šnekutis Užupis). Spending a night in this jovial bar it is hard to believe that Lithuania has the highest suicide rate in the world (not kidding, look it up) and also the highest homicide rate in the European Union (still not kidding, look it up). It is said that every 60 seconds in Lithuania one minute passes.
1L bottle (Snekutis Old Town, Vilnius)
Sweet raisiny aroma. Real pruney taste. Not just like prunes in some abstract way, but real real prunes, there in your mouth. Soft and smooth malts. Redish, good tight head. Easy drinker; pretty mellow, but maybe a little watery compared to the heavier ones. The 8% is the king for both taste and drinkability out of the 3.
