3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
bottled $2! Pours looking like a nice typical lager, clear crisp looking & even smells good, a little hops w/ a slight clue of alcohol, barely. Taste is one dimensional, old grassy hops. Alcohol is there but neither adds to or takes away from this beer. I grabbed this b/c it said xtra stout & 9%. The dark beer room @ Greens deceived me pretty terribly on the stout part, yet the alcohol is delivered quite well as a lager. Really under rated... honestly, I think if an American mirco brewed this same beer it would be better received.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle picked up at Jungle Jims along with a couple other bigger ones when the abv cap disappeared from notes. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head that disappeared. The aroma and flavor is mostly sweet malts, almost candied, grass, and some off notes, not very good.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
0.5 liter bottle. Pours a hazy orange color, not much head. Aroma is sweet, like caramel or butterscotch. Flavor is also very sweet. A bit cloying and yeasty. Not much hop or malt presence. Palate is thin. Overall it’s not a terrible beer. I’m a bit surprised it’s rated so low.

Very weak, very sweet lager with a slick mouthfeel and an unfortunate aftertaste.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Nice color, golden yellow/brown... with a small amount of floaties. Smells malty candy sweet, almost too sweet for a beer... but a good smell. Quite flat and thin, hard to believe its 9.5%. Tastes like an old ale more than a pils/lager. Its not bad.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
Deep Amber Color, Small Head, Leaves Almost No Lacing. Sweet Malt Aroma. Sweet, caramel, malt, boozy. Was better than expected or I’ve remembered. Labels have a few things that are lost in translation. I would guess those labels were translated back in early 90’s, when good translators were scars and have not been updated or fixed. Everyone catches on "stout" part. It is a far cry from Stout indeed. Second, in English it says Thunder beer, while in reality it has a lightning bolt, which is the correct name. That is the my joke, that one bottle is enough, it hits you like lightning and you pass out...Actually it was not that bad but I would not have more than one...

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Aroma of sweet butterscotch and perhaps some toast; maybe a minimal hop presence somewhere in the "noble" family. Appearance is orangish gold with bubbly white head. Flavor is pretty butterscotch, really kinda like drinking alcoholic butterscotch; finish is a little less sweet, but with some residual alcohol and perfume. Palate is medium, sticky and soft. At once repulsive and alluring; repulsive in that it is a rather poor beer, but alluring in that "you’re stuck somewhere in Eastern Europe and want to forget the miseries of life" sort of way.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
I’m not sure why I’m such a fan of cheap high gravity beers from Eastern Europe, but I had to try another cheap one from this this brewery, a few of which have better labels. This one has a boring label, though. 500ml bottle (which cost $2) pours a clear deep golden color with a moderate white head but practically no lacing. Smells of alcohol, grass and bread. Aroma is not skunky, but includes caramel, butterscotch, and a bit of fruits but no hops. Medium body and average carbonation. Taste is sweet, but not sickeningly sweet. This one is easy to drink slowly, and you don’t even have to sip it. It seems identical to the same brewery’s Zhiguly Grande. Both serve their purpose well, and I’d much rather try another one of these than an another American 40 oz malt liquor for the same price and same effect.
