3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
[Tap] Draught at City Beer in San Fran. Hazy yellow pour with a soapy white head. Aromas of citrus, light clove and banana. Taste is of wheat malt, cracker, light weizen yeast notes and some grass. Mild and clean, but nothing to write home about.
January 28th, 2015 - If I checked I doubt I would find a "San Diego Style Hefe" in the BJCP guidelines, but from the name alone I can get a vague sense of the beer that's to come. I'm thinking something chewy, wheaty and with a dank, tropical hop profile. The idea appeals. The beer pours thick and chewy looking too, hazy and with a large white head. And the nose is indeed pregnant with hops. Lots of orange and orange zest notes are in evidence, with a perky and fresh vote, as well as some floral touches around the edge, and just a hint of tropical fruits. The flavor retreats from the strength of the aroma, leaving a mealy tasting beer. The velvety carbonation also gives the impression that the brew has gone a little flat. Flavor notes include stale cracker and wet napkins, or maybe closer to the point, an underripe pineapple. Odd that the flavor would be so out of sync with the aroma, but this is likely an artifact of a single batch. Further experimentation will be necessary. deyholla (12219) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUN 18, 2017
Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours a near clear orange gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of wheat with some clove and a bit of grassy hops coming through. Flavor has a strong wheat note with growing clove and a slight sweetness. joeneugs (6372) - Livermore, California, USA - MAY 5, 2016
On draft at Tap 25. It pours a clear gold color with a frothy, off white head. The aroma has pineapple and peaches. A little floral. Very hop forward. The flavor has more floral hop character with strong bitterness. Heavy grapefruit as well. Light malty body. No hefe yeast character at all. Weird. I would’ve thought this was a Session IPA. Maybe a touch too bitter even for that style. AmEricanbrew (6999) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - DEC 13, 2014

Backlog. On tap from a long time ago. Pours with a deeper golden hued body and an off-white head. Aromas are dominated by isoamyl acetate, HUGEly ester with lower levels of 4VG (clove). Minimal hop character, possibly a bit of citrus. Bready. Flavors are again dominated by banana with some malt. low bitterness, minimal hop character. On tap at Rip Current. Hazy golden pour, with a white head. Light banana esters, wheat, a bit fruity, clove, and sweetness. Ok, I’m not a big hefe fan. brokensail (16645) - Dublin, California, USA - SEP 15, 2013
