Imperial IPA, Double IPA, XIPA, IIPA. Whatever you want to call it. Calcutta Cutter is our homage to hops. Lots of hops. Early hops. Late hops. Very late hops. Dry hops. Then we condition the bottles in a bed of hops. Well, maybe not that last bit, but you get the idea. We let the lupulin shine !

Tap Cornerstone Barre VT - Orange copper in color. Dank pine sap aroma with notes of gumminess. Smooth coating mouthfeel. Great big hop bitterness without the overpowering astringency in some diPAs. Finishes with chewy wet fresh hop dankness.

Tried this from a can at the recommendation of my friends at The Beer Store Nashua NH Wow. Great appearance. Smooth taste that has tropical hint but not overdone on the citrus notes. I will definitely enjoy more of these. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at the brewery. Clear light amber pour with a white head. Minerally hop notes. Hints of herbal/medicinal hops as well. Very Portland Oregonish style DIPA. Not really my style but still clean and straightforward. Average body and mouthfeel.

Poured into sample glass at brewery: Pours golden with a thin white head. Aroma of malt sweetness, tropical fruit, pine. Taste is more of the same, but the tropical notes are too mixed up with the resin. Too much going on here, a bit of a mess of a beer. Heavy and sweet, its alright.

Can. Resin, citrus and grass aroma. Hazy amber with a frothy white head. Medium bitterness and body with a nice long hop finish. Very well balanced, an excellent double.

UPDATED: DEC 13, 2015 Sticky is the word that comes to mind - sticky hops and sticky malt. There are hops absolutely everywhere, and it comes together beautifully with what?s a pretty strong malt background. This reminds me of some of the great Vermont DIPA?s, maybe with a little less complexity, but easily available.

Some citrus and a little pine. Tangy finish with some bitterness. Golden pour with good head. Soft carbonation. Tap at Deep Ellum.

Bright orange pour from draft at Pai Men in Portland Maine. White sticky head. Big nose of tropical happiness. Orange, apricot, and maybe a tad vanilla. Hoppy and bitter. Delicious.

Draught at Lulus, 3/28/15
Nearly as red as the label, and a bit deeper with garnet and magenta hues and a small, beige head that shows moderate retention. Clarity is high, with just a touch of haze to it.
Very fruity in the nose; not just citrus but cherries, berries and apples even. Quite complex and though there is some thought of pine, its much more citrus-influenced than it is heavily acidic and resinous. Crystal malts, to my dismay, are here adding that "hard" iced tea-like note, with vanilla and light caramel sweetness certainly balancing things. Floral, green and even mint-like aromas emerge with warming. Lots of hop complexity, which is appreciated with little/no alcohol or flaws in the nose.
Both sweet and only moderately bitter in flavor, it almost comes off as more of a Double Pale ale. Crystal malts add that hard candy-like texture, though caramel sugars help soften things and a low but mostly tight carbonation concentrates the wonderfully fruity hoppiness. Toasted malt, strawberry and grapefruit all swirl about on the end, easing some of the sweetness, but its still probably a bit too malt forward. I do like the lack of resin here, but the malt bill needs a bit of work and it could use a bit more good old bitterness.

This stands as my current favorite Imperial IPA. The hops are balanced and theres an excellent crisp ending.
