3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On draft. Interesting, pleasant "winter saison" with some spiciness and a nice, pronounced rye taste. Nothing mind-blowing, but still a quality beer.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz. bottle. Poured a dark mahogany with a good sized beige cap. Rye and dark fruit on the aroma. Some brown sugar too. Light sweetness with notes of brown sugar and caramel and dark pitted fruit. Sweetness is kept in check by the spiciness from the rye. Medium to full body. Excellent brew.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Tristan. Blackish red pour with a thin off white head. Belgian yeast cloves with the note aroma. Taste is very herbal, Belgian with cloves and touch of rye. Very good.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottled December 2015, drunk 1/15/16.
Deep beige head tops a dark amber-mahogany body, with good clarity. Retention is poor.
Buttercream, dates, figs, prunes and various spices all show off a very winter warmer-esque nose. What they don’t show is any sign of a saison. There’s some earthiness here, along with some lightly herbal/spicy hops and a faint mustiness, but this barely comes off as Belgian at all, let alone saison-like. Fruity, sweet, almost fruitcake-like. No alcohol.
Lightly toasted character adds a sourdough-like element to the otherwise sweet, buttercream-laden, slightly overspiced amber ale. Some earthy, lightly vegetal qualities are notable with lots of brown sugar and fruitiness lingering on the finish. Didn’t even finish half the bottle...about the only good thing I can say about this series is that I only have one more to go (printemps) before I never have to drink any of them again.

This beer is straight up delicious. It's got a wonderful body and is very drinkable. Subtle spicy notes and a bit of Bananna. Delicious.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
New England Bucket List Trip Beer #95. Had to open this one because I dropped it and the cap starting to leak, and that’s how I got my 9400th rating! 12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Portland, ME. Pours a hazy amber with a large foamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of rye, citrus, caramel, dark fruits. The taste is stone fruits, raisin, toffee, caramel, tinny hops, rye. Thin-medium bodied. Solid.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a deep ruby amber color with a finger of eggshell foam. Nose is anise, warm cinnamon, gingerbread, earthy caramel, fig, raisin. Palate is sweet upfront with some fig newton fruit, bitter walnut, smoked malt, nuance of cocoa, roasted grain, rye and kola nut. Interesting. Finish is slight rotten compost, flat cola.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
My Bottom Line:
Cloves, candied oranges and raisins are shared within this brew’s tight and bubbly mouthfeel.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the dark ruby haze.
-The fruitiness is very much candy-like throughout.
-I would have liked a bit more acidity in the finish.
-I guess I prefer Rising Tide’s touch with more drinkable offerings, such as Spinnaker, Ishmaël and Atlantis.
On tap at the brewery.

Copper and cloudy with a nice fluffy head. Taste is a little bit sweet with a grass and some spices. A winter saison which is specifically what it is.
