COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
12.8°. 10 EBC.

Bottle. This is an excellent Helles which I wish was easier to come by stateside.

On tap at Kreuzberg RittmayerKeller, Hallerndorf. Gold clear white head and hoppy and lovely. Sherberty hoppy. Lovely. Drinkability, sherbert hop finish.

Ernest (7889) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAY 19, 2013
UPDATED: MAY 23, 2013 Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is light yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (lemon oil/cleaner, flowers), with light notes of celery and green onion. Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, slightly unclean. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Yet another very inconsistent brew. Had this on draft at around 3.5-3.7 quality, and now a fresh bottle purchased at the Gasthaus that sucks. How do you even rate brewers like this that are all over the place even with the same beer? Arggh.

swing top bottle 330ml. -from Sörspecialista.hu, Budapest as Plop Landbier. Pale golden coloured, medium sized white head, mild herbal nose. Moderate malty, grassy and light herbal with some hop presence in the finish. Simple and ok beer.

MichaelAwesome (6546) - Wanne-Eickel, GERMANY - MAR 20, 2013
Simple one with a bit sourness in the nose and bit dull in the taste. Still, quaffy, drinkable and quite ok. Average which means not bad in that case.

One more Dortmunder/Helles that just tastes like any other of this style..the colour is a medium gold with a very airy head and average body. Nose of sweetish malt. Taste of mild fruits, green apples, low malt, medium hops and old cereals. Refreshing though but quite boring as well.

UPDATED: JUN 8, 2013
November 2012: Draft at Brauerei Rittmayer in Hallendorf as lagerbier.
Filtered gold body under a billowy and soft white head. Bright and hoppy nose, peppery and clean, sweet and thin honey and biscuit-flavored pilsner malt with moderate bitterness. Soft carbonation, good froth. Mild to medium German hop expression seems unmatched for the body and sweetness, and impart a minty greenness and leafiness on top of the already-sweet pale malt. (3.4/5)

May 2013: draft at Rittmayer keller Kreuzberg.
Fine shape. Clean, malty, lightly doughy, very cracker-y. Mild lemon hop aroma. Oily / soapy texture. Crisp finish. (3.5/5)

May 2013: draft at Brauerei Rittmayer Hallerndorf.
Even better. Clean, crisp, more expressive aroma (though probably just the state of my nose at the two times). Smooth and crisp, well-lagered. Still quiet. No soapy finish. (3.8/5)

June 2013: bottle as Plop Landbier.
Kinda flabby, apple-y and butter-y. Limp malt mouthfeel. Low carbonation. Slightly stale. Not a good representation. (3.0/5)

Leighton (22812) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 26, 2013
Bottle at home in London. Pours clear gold, lightly effervescent, weak white foam head. Nice bready malt aroma, light dough and hay. Light to medium sweet flavor, some very lightly toasted sugars, white bread, dough, faint hay. Light to medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Fairly sweet finish, more lightly toasted doughy bread, some hay, white sugar. It’s a very simple lager, but it’s really tasty and I like it.

inbirraveritas (1622) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JAN 25, 2013
Bottled. Clear yellow golden colour, medium sized white head. Dough yeasty nose. Grainy aroma ruled by hay and dough underpainted by mild grassy hops. Thin, watery texture. Rather short and corny finish escorted by hints of citrusses and herbs. Drinkable, nothing more (maybe just a failed batch)...

ogreface (1390) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JAN 23, 2013
